Yowza... 'spensive... looks nice...

I had pieced together a 'car-puter' for my xB (as in looked for & priced everything, haven't purchased yet) about a year ago.... would have been about $1500 for self install.... 1 Ghz computer, 7" TFT display, GPS Navigation, wireless ethernet (to connect to home wireless router), and storage for music and video, etc.... gonna have to start looking into that again.

also, do you have the dimensions for that Camry Navi unit?

i wonder what kind of navigation do carputers use. I have used the delorme & ms streets and trip 2006 software with gps.. and they both sucked big time compared to my avic. they are both slow in giving direction, if I was driving myself I would've missed a lot of streets to turn, but luckily my gf was telling me whats next. when i was on the route, sometimes the software tells me i'm off route.

No dimensions but it replaces the stock HU perfectly, perhaps you can find the dimension of a stock HU

Can you find variety of key hole cameras on eBay ranging from $40 to $160. And as usual you get what you paid for.

I installed it myself, the installation was quite easy the most difficult part was taking one side of the headliner out to wire the camera to the navi unit.

^^^ Yeah, for that price you could have gone aftermarket. I'm wondering would the Camry Nav unit fit under the radio cover on a tC?

I wanted the clean OEM look

I don't want a screen that comes out and folds up

if money is not an issue then I would recommend these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HQ-CC...QQcmdZViewItem

I'd say they're top of the line as far as key hole sized cameras go

If you don't want to spend very much just make sure that the camera you get has wide view angle (90+) and that the fitment is ok for where you plan on mounting it.

I don't have a microphone installed but you can find them for atbout $50 with:

I'd also try calling your local Toyota dealership

Thanks Calvin,

what do you think about the same with infrared?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CCD-I...QQcmdZViewItem

How easy is it to hook up to the unit? do I need special wires or adaptors?

Thanks again!
