I installed this unit too, with help from Calvin. No the xB doesnt have SW (steering wheel) controls, but I'm working on using the SW from a xA (Ebay) and found a wiring harness from PAC that should work! I will let you know how it turns out. I have the mic also and it works great, even at speed! I think this unit is great. I read the other post on the unit with blue tooth, and I would have loved to have that one also. But I was wondering, the guy Troy who sold Calvin and mine sells two models, one digital and one analog. So I think the one with Bluetooth is digital. Troy told me that that if I get the digital one, I would have to change the speakers in the box to digital ones! The unit (#7003) we bought are analog, which the box system is and therefore installed hella easy! Everything was truly Plug and Play!

But I ain't hating, I'm appreciating! I would love to see that unit work in a Box! If it does, maybe I will get one, cause I'm a cell *****! My alternative now is to use a Bluetooth unit from PAC that plugs into the HU that will allow me to go Hands free!

Thanks again Calvin!

Holla!!!

Nice

I am waiting for Emmanual(the guy I listed) to send out my unit. I will let you know once installed if it works or not.

I do have to figure out how to connect the camera and mic though. I will see once the unit comes in. Hopefully soon. geesh...

Hey - I just had a question for you - after you bought all the electronics required, how much did 521 audiosports charge you for the installation? and how long did it take?

I am thinking about getting this unit but and need someone with EXPERIENCE to install it in my brand new virgin xB that's coming in soon....

Thanks man!

Fo Shizzle, Do it yourself because its so easy! The only problem I had was finding the Speed sensor wire, the reverse was no problem. I had a very good idea where the wire was, but I just took my box to a Audio installer and he tapped the wire for 5 bucks, lol! Other than that, I did it all myself from the instructions here on SL and Calvin!

And also, when you do it yourself, it a greater sense of responsibility and pride for your Box!

I appreciate your comments, guys... I'll take another look at the installation steps that are on here and i'll see if it's something that I can do or if it's something that will cause me to F up my box within 1 week of ownership

=]

Quick question though - I ordered my xB with the bone stock radio system and wanted to connect my laptop to the aux. sound jack - that way i could have my laptop as the mp3 players and play music over the stock speakers....

What change will replacing the head unit make? Will I still be able to connect my laptop to the aux. sound jack? does this new head unit have an aux input jack?

i appreciate your feedback guys!

you will lose the useage of the stock AUX if you go with any other after-market headunit

there are a couple developers out there right now developing add-on modules to the navi unit to have video-in, audio-in, iPod interface, AUX but these modules are $300+

Check this out bro! http://www.vaistech.com/home.html I'm digging the AVIC-100i A/V Auxiliary Input Adapter with Apple® iPod™ interface. This unit will give you that Aux imput plus other imputs that you may need later like a video imput, including a Ipod imput that will allow you to work the Ipod from your HU, sweeet! But you can see they have several different kind. I checked with a vendor here in Sin Sity and they had a better price than the website, so don't be alarmed at the price.

My next option will be Sirius radio this month so I can get Howard in Jan, then in Jan I wil get the AVIC-100i A/V Auxiliary Input Adapter with Apple® iPod™ interface. So you have many options out there, go for it!

GOOD LORD... If I have to spend $1720 on the navigation unit and amplifier, then another $300 on inputs for my laptop...

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL IM GOING TO PUT NAVIGATION INTO MY BOX. MY LAPTOP + INSECURE WIRELESS ROUTERS ARE ALL I NEED TO GET AROUND...

I spent $16,695 - in cash - on the box. There is no way in hell I'm going to put 1/8th the price of the car into electronics/navigation! It's worth it, don't get me wrong, but I am not made of money.

the only reason I purchased the OEM unit because it fits perfectly into the dash looking like it came from the factory

you should check out those other aftermarket (Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine) navi units where the screen flips out and up

Will do... I dunno - especially with my past experience here in nyc, I would be afraid to even put a $50 head unit into my box... But I was considering the navigation because it seems like something that NO ONE should be with out..

My hummer was broken into this past summer and ever since then, I have not put any money into it and wanted to do the same for my box - keep it as stock as possible. I don't have a garage which sucks but the hummer was broken into at a parking lot in queens - so the garage didnt matter.....

I'll decide what to do... I had actually bought and put together a car PC that I wanted to put into the hummer before it was broken into and when it was violated, i was so glad that i hadnt installed it yet.

The bastards took nothing from the hummer though - since it was bone stock. they threw everything that i had in my glove box/center console all over the f$cking truck but that was the extent of their _______ish-ness.

ps - my apologies for going off topic =X

oh! no no no! I didn't take offense at all and I really appreciate all the feedback I recieved! I was just actually really shocked at the prices - that's all! I wasn't knockin' anybody or their advice at all! I'm sorry if it seemed that way but that's not how i intended to convey how i felt...

Again, I wasn't blasting anyone AT ALL with my comments! I'm sorry it came out like that - I didn't mean that in a negative manner at all!
