Default Navigation systems

Ok, I know this is somewhat of a repost, but I think its a valid post because products are constantly updated. Im looking to get a DVD Navi for my car, but I want it totally indash without a flip screen. I really like the eclipse avn's but Im not sure what they run for yet. When I talked to the healer after I ordered my tC, he showed me the new Alpine which went for the "great" price of only like $3900 :p screw that Theres no way Im paying for that much. I think a reasonable price my dad and I are looking at is prob around 2,200 max, but i think mainly 1500-2000 is what I would like to see. If you have something in your car, or know of a good product, please post a model # and a pic! Would be much appreciated

Default Eclipse

The Eclipse AVN2454 is anywhere from $1500 to $1800 on eBay. I checked them out last week or so. Although people have been saying that if you buy them retail, they're around $2200. 4K is a little too steep for a navi, dude. Definitely stay away from that.

Pioneer will be offering a new in-dash DVD/Navigation unit sometime this spring. This one will not have a flip out screen and will be totally in-dash. I saw it at CES a few weeks ago and the person I spoke with said it will cost less than the current model with the fold-out screen.

i got my avn for 1500 installed(hOOOkup!) and it's IMO the best nav system there is, better than the pioneers, especially if you don't want a flip

Yeah... I'd love to have this one but it will probably still retail for like 2k or something and since it's new, there aren't going to be a lot of deals. It is cool though - if you pay for the extended XM package, it can get traffic updates in some cities and integrate it with the GPS data to dynamically route you around problems. I probably wouldn't pay for all that, but it's still nice to have the newer interfaces and stuff. I'll probably wait and see on this one.

Yes... you can get the Eclipse AVN2454 on eBay for around 1,600.00... thats about average.

Looks like this:

Slight mod needs to be done to make it fit.

Also Kenwood DDX7015 is another double din, a little more work but I think it has the most feature of them all.

I bought my Eclipse AVN2454 over a year ago... They're $2300 retail, but you can definately find them cheaper now that there are a lot more units out. I've used the Pioneer AVIC-N1, the Kenwood DDX system, the Alpine IVA-D300 + navigation, and the Garmin systems, as well as the TomTom systems for PocketPC... and to be honest, I like the Eclipse navigation system the best. It's just really easy to use.

I'm waiting on the next generation XM NavTraffic systems and then I may be selling mine. I'm a GPS nerd.

i also like eclipse the best, the nav system is very easy to use and is the most accurate program out, its the same program that lexus uses for the optinal navs. and the picture quality on the DVD is amazing. also, with an mp3 cd, you can pull up a listing of all the folders and then all the songs in the folder and it has the names of all the songs listed, touch the name of the track to play definatly worth the paper

LOL - only problem...does it fit in a double din space?

I'm sure someone will come out with a smaller edition and post it online...photoshoppers?!?

BTW, it may just be me (I had a TT before) but I can not tell how much distance I have when backing into things now...I think the eclipse with the optional rear camera would rock! Anyone install this option? And how much is the extra camera?

Where would you put the backup cam on the tC? It would be nice to have, but I doubt that I'll make it to the Nav system I really lust after, much less additional cameras and stuff.

The new Eclipse with the built in hard drive and high voltage output looks nice.
