Default Need help with picking up a decent Stereo!

Hi Everyone!

Well due to some insurance issues looks like I won’t be able to pick up the Lexus IS350 after all.

Anyways, that’s not why I’m posting :D.

I need any decent advice on what to Get. Im not looking for the boomy bass. I’m more into high quality sounds and real good imagery. I’ve read in some forums that Dynaudio speakers are awesome. Im looking at budget no more than $7,000.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

where to start where to start.....I'd say, with a $7000 budget, go all out SQ.... an excellent HU, one component system for up front, one 2 channel amp for the front comps.... and a single 10 in a ported, low tuned box with about 500 watts to it.... mmmmm I can hear it now.....

Dynaudio are good speakers..... with a budget like that, look into some morel speakers..... or rainbow....something high quality......Elemental Design has some badass speakers and whatnot... could talk to Mandos on here about them.....JL's would do very nicely.....

How much do you know about car audio??? I'm glad to help with your venture, just PM me if you have some questions..

wow, you can afford a $38k car and not the insurance?

At least buying a $16k car and dumping $7k in stereo makes alot more sense.

Good luck.

ps. I wonder how far $7k would go in paying for insurance?

Hello!

Thanks for the response.

Well to make a long story short. I got into 2 minor but expensive accidents. Both of which were in a parking lot while I was backing up. First one I was in my 96 tahoe(should have seen the poor civic-wasn’t pretty) . the last one i was in my xb. Total damage for both cars were around 4500. both at less than 5 mph. well now, my current insurance company doesn’t want to renew my insurance so I have to go with a different company. But most of the companies are giving me a price range of 4 grand a year for a 14,000 dollar car. so you see if their going to charge me that much for a cheap a$$ car. how much do you think they will charge me for an expensive one? Anyways I just gave up on trying to pick up the lexus and decided to concentrate on stuff I enjoy the most when im inside the car- music.

I don’t know im still trying to figure that out.

Only thing I have in mind so far is the head unit and spkrs.

Kenwood XXV-05V and Dynaudio system 360 and system 240.

Still trying to figure out what type of amp to pick up for the speakers.

If you are looking for an amp that has some great specs check out Soundstream's Tarantula line. These are some fantastic amps.

^^^I've heard alot of good thinga about those amps.... only thing I don't really like (not a big deal) is that they're only mono stable at 4 ohm.....

Eclipse for a radio, Diamond audio for speakers (incredible three way set), Audison or Diamond amps, Image Dynamics or DLS subs. And sound deaden everything.

I just want to emphasize the not a big deal part. There are MANY very good amps on the market that are only 4 ohm stable when configured to be mono.

If you are looking for SQ, the ohm load on the amp shouldn't be a consideration until later. Your primary focus should be speaker selection and placement. Then crossovers, amps, head unit.
