New Amplifier Suggestions?
We have two 12" Pioneer Subs (TS-W300R to be exact if you'd like to look them up) and we would like to replace our current amp.. but we weren't sure which would be the best. We have an Emerson PA-X 4100.. if that helps at all too. One of the bridges is broken.
I've been told by a friend that an Alpine or Kenwood 700-1000 watt amp would be good for these two subs.. but would like to know if that is true and if not (or even if so), what are your suggestions? Thanks.
One more question, actually.. does the quality of sound inside the car change a lot depending on which way the subs are facing? I would imagine so, but I am not positive. They currently face the rear door and I was thinking we needed to get a box that pointed more upwards.. or two triangle-types that would be on the sides facing inward and up. Thanks again for your help.

There isn't a TS-W300R, but rather a TS-W301R if that's the model you have.
Those subs are rated at 150RMS each and 800 Max... Personally, I'd look for an amp that will push about 600x1@2ohm (only 4ohm SVC is offered with that model #)...
this would be a good amp to run those speakers (wired in parallel for a 2ohm mono load)

really depends on your budget..
and as far as the woofer aiming goes, I found that rearward or rear w/upward angle firing is the best

The JL Audio A1400 would drive the crap out of those Pioneer 12's and would produce much cleaner power than a Kenwood or Alpine amp.
The TS-W300R woofers are not designed to handle huge amounts of power. They are rated at 150w RMS/600w Peak. Wiring these woofers, which are single 4-ohm coil by the way, in parallel to the A1400 would give you 400w @ 12V and 500w @ 14.4!! Gain control is going to be of supreme importance, as this amp is very capable of destroying those Pioneers!
As for enclosures and their placement within the vehicle, the answer to your question is yes and no. Theoretically, frequencies below 100Hz are considered nondirectional, which means that they emanate in all directions regardless of the woofer's face. However, the reflective factor of smooth, rebounding surfaces within range of the woofer can and will alter the overall performance of the woofers within the vehicle. Consider altering the current enclosure to accomodate for a rebound off of the rear glass. Also, if you do go the route of the A1400 as your amp, you will want to keep each woofer in an enclosure within Pioneer's spec of 1.25-1.75 cu. ft. The amount of power offered by the A1400 will destroy those cones if they are enclosed in too much air space.
...hope this helps.
