Default Okay, which head unit?

$250 Lots of features, good price, brand questionable...
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...vo+GTV-X1.html
$280 Big screen!
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...s+BV9560B.html

I found this Pioneer for $408 with shipping. The site says "new". My only gripes are that I've read that the optional remote doesn't work with half of the things and that there is only one USB and it's in the rear. I would like to have a flash drive and the iPod cable to be hooked up simultaneously.

^x2, the other 2 seem ok but pioneer will be better in the long run as long as you take care of it.

Spend the extra money and go with the pioneer. It will be worth it.

pioneer brand name blah blah blah. boss can be a perfectly acceptable substitute under certain circumstances. i ran boss audio equipment for over a year on the stock speakers and subwoofer.

are you running amps and aftermarket speakers? if so then the pioneer will sound best based on the specs. the 4 volt pre-amps vs the 2 volt pre-amps will give you cleaner sound.

are you running aftermarket speakers alone? if so then the pioneer wins again. even though it's peak is only 52 watts (while the boss audio peak is 85) the rms is 22 watts (while the boss audio rms is only 17). you'll get better sound out of aftermarket speakers.

are you running stock speakers? if so then don't waste your money on the pioneer unless you plan on upgrading the rest of your system later on. you could get the most badass head unit in the world but you can still only get so much sound quality out of the stock speakers.

X2^. But im cheap. I would certainly get the Pioneer if I had the cash. But I am also cheap and have found cheaper brands will work just as good. I would give the Motevo a shot. But thats me. Thats if I had stock speakers and everything and just wanted the head unit. But thats me..I like being cheap. haha.

Well, in the end if you have any inclination what so ever to get aftermarket speakers then I say go for the pioneer.

if you want it to last...PIONEER, but the boss is a close 2nd with the big purdy screen, and its not a bad company either.

I only have an 8" amplified sub under my passenger seat for some needed bass. I don't know a whole lot about music equipment. I like the Motevo unit. The buttons and features look good. I would like to think that they make products that last.

I doubt the Boss's screen quality will look like the picture above. Pioneer is the way to go but all the headunits you laid out are low quality imo.

I don't want my head unit to be worth 1/5 of my car's KBB like it does for some people.
I want a touch screen and to be able to see multiple songs at once for easier selection.
Nav isn't all that important, I have a portable Garmin that gets the job done and it's easier to use than expensive Headunit NAVs.

DVD playback is a cool feature but not essential.

I found a Kenwood that's in my price range with good reviews, but it may be last year's model.

As for the speakers, I would upgrade the door and dash speakers at the right price.
The options on Crutchfield are endless.

I'm open to upgrading them too. I just need to do some research on amazing 6.5" speakers or some good dash replacements.

I'm also trying to only look at Kenwood or Pioneer HUs for around $350.
So far I like the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD, but I don't think it has a remote.

why is this? I have a Pioneer Avic D3 and still sporting stock speakers. The d3 makes my speakers sound extra crisp and the stock speakers are not garbage.

They are garbage.....most folks do not realize how hollow they sound until they change them...
Also they are somewhat inefficient

I wish I had $700 to spend on my head unit. That's awesome.

I will look around. People discuss what speakers they get but there is no way for me to know if they sound better.
I would do the dash ones first. The door ones are harder to install.

Is there any way this site is legit?
http://www.topcaraudio.com/products/...-RECEIVER.html

I found the nice Pioneer for cheaper than Amazon or Sonic but the site seems sketchy.

I'm about ready to get the credit card out, God help me.
