Default Overhead Monitor/DVD/MP3

Alright, I am looking for a 12" or 15" overhead monitor that will play dvds, mp3s...etc. I want to do this with the headunit. Are there any package deals that will allow for me to use the head-unit with the monitor and control the dvd's volume. Basically, what I want is this...I want to be able to watch a DVD with my car's system playing the sound instead of having headphones and then be able to turn off the monitor and just play music. Am I looking to have to get a Pioneer AVIC and a monitor or are there packages? I am looking to spend close to $1000 on this project.

yes...most overhead units now feature either an fm transmitter where the audio is transmiited via radio signal to your stock hu OR u can have it wired up through your hu auxilary input/output (manily for cd changers or the ipod2car kit) but mind u that it does have to be wired in.

Actually heres what I had... Get a pioneer DVH-P500MP it plays dvd's and mp3's... and whats nice about this is you hook the tv into the rear output and you can have the rear audio run out to so if you leave the rear output on the person watching the movie can hook into say headphone jack or whatever. But if you want to listen to the movie in the car just click the dvd thats playing so you can.

Had this unit in my xb... was perfect.. 2 headrest monitors and a 8" sunken into the stock deck. Had this deck down in the cubby hole. Was a very nice unit. Can find the deck for about 450... and may I suggest a concept monitor. http://conceptconcept.com/home.asp

Let me know if your intrested in this stuff to I can get it for you if needed.[/url]

yeah, either get one with a FM transmitter, but for optimal sound, have a HU with an aux channel. This is great, because then you can also tune the bass, treb, etc when youre watching a movie.

Alright....I'm thinking I buy Clarion/Pioneer, or equal, in-dash MP3/DVD(no flip out monitor) and a 15.4" Overhead monitor and just wire the video out to the monitor and use the audio controlled by the head unit.

Let me know what you think about this.

I will use the two video outputs for later headrest screens.

Looks decent, if you dont mind living without the radio. I think if you wanted to use the TV feature you would also have to buy an antena for it, the good ones I believe run up to only like $50 or so.
