Default pc car question

don't know much 'bout computers at all so please be very specific if u post an answer...anyway 'm planning to get the DELORME GPS receiver which has has USB type connection..which leads me to the question hwat should I look for in a pc car to get the GPS receiver working..BTW as u can tell I only need the carPC mainly for navigation so I don't need any elaborate extras for it....I already have an indash monitor that I would like to use to display information.

thanks

Default Perfect motherboard for Car PC...

Have you looked into a mini-itx board. They have everything you need to make a mini pc in the size of a cd. Here is a link to a conplete system. One of the went on ebay for $275.

The "standard" taken in by most carputer modders is the Via board.

http://www.directron.com/viaepiam1000.html

Very reliable, low power consumption, fanless, SFF, all equal low heat. There are also other boards in the Epia line if all your doing is GPS. Check them out there as well.

Also, most of your questions can be answered at http://www.mp3car.com
Power,GPS etc etc.

The VIA mini-itx boards are pretty nice for car only cpu's. Another way to do it is the mod-chip an X-box and install Windows on it. It gives you a convenient standard 3-plug RCA output & tends to be a very cost effective solution... plus you can play games
