Default pops and static like sounds in sound system

when im listening to my 3 month old 2005 xb i hear like static like noises and sounds similar to when a speaker is blown, i think its coming either from my dash mounted tweeters, or the door mids, buts its randomly, its not really consistant that i hear it all the time, i mostly listen to mp3 cd's and im pretty sure all my mp3s are at least 128k if not 192k bitrates. its not super loud either, its semi-distant, you have to listen to hear it.

does anyone know if there is any type of problem with the stock headunit and mp3's? or do you think my tweeters are blown from using the "feel" setting too much, lol

if it is blown hopefully its the tweeters, i have a pair of 2inch JBL coaxial tweeters i never used

I experienced the same thing w/ my xb. It was only noticable when I had the volume up high. I don't use mp3's so this occured w/ reg cd's.

I recently switched my stock stereo w/ my old car's eclipse HU and the change was night and day. I was getting really anoyed by the way the stock HU sounded. It put out way too much bass which in turn distorted the sound at high volumes. I assume this is what is happening in your case.

However, if you have aftermarket equipment then you might have other issues.

popping is usually a loose connection at the speaker. but if it doesn't do it on radio but on cd's or vice versa that may be somthing different.

I'm thinking it must be a loose connection at the speaker on the back of the radio.

I'm getting the same static-y sound from my month-old TC. Sounds like its coming from the passenger's side door, maybe the tweeter. I hear it when there's a lot of high-frequency sounds, like cymbals. I mostly listen to my satellite radio, but I've noticed it when I put in CDs as well. Would this be covered under warranty?

I dont think the tweeters have high frequency caps on them. Im gonna try a crossover or some caps this weekend and see if it helps.

I have had the same issue with my xA. I think the tweets are just ringing. Makes me nuts, but the tech at the dealership said "I wish my stereo sounded that good." I notice it most often with mp3s. I rip my mp3s at 320 bps, so I know it's not a recording issue, I will keep trying to get someone to hear it. Unfortunately, sound quality is such a personal thing, it's hard to get someone to hear what we hear. I have found some specific songs that cause it, so I will be playing them for them next time I take it in.

If you're all stock still, take it to the dealer and replicate the sound for them.... they may end up relplacing all your equipment for free and in the process, check factory wiring issues and whatnot....

This problem just started in my 06 xB that i have had for about 6 months. I will be calling the dealership to get it in and i will tell you what the result is. Not only that but one of the rear windows wont roll down, so i want to get it all done at the same time.
