Default Purple shift ****

Hey guys! I want to put a neon purple shift **** on my tC once I get it.
I found this site and it has 3 different styles:
http://www.buyneonlights.com/shiftknobs.shtml
Since I virtually know nothing about this, can anyone please tell me:
1. Will any of these shift ***** fit on a tC?
2. Is there one that is better than another of the 3?
3. Can I install it myself or is it complicated?
Thanks! Sorry for sounding dumb, remember I'm new at this!

I'm not usually one for shooting down someone's ideas... I think it should be to each his (or her) own... but I really really don't think you wanna put one of those in a tC.

but that's just me.

i'm sorry, I had to edit this because I realize I wasn't being constructive in any way. There was a thread on aftermarket shift *****, you might wanna search on it.

I just want it to match my lightup cupholders and cd player. I thought it'd be cute.

i didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm sorry. But have you seen one in real life? They're just really really tacky. Ricey if you will, and I don't use the term lightly.

Sorry.

That's okay. I was just testing the waters to see what the "experts" had to say. I haven't seen one in person, so they may well be "ricey" and not attractive. It was just an idea. But thanks for the info.

it's cool. Let me explain... its not so much the fact that it's putting out purple light... It's just that all the shift **** that happen to be emitting purple light are usually very poorly and cheaply made, look cheap in person, and will probably break very quickly.

I like the idea of subtle mood lighting, but those things are just over the top. I wouldn't waste my money on that.... are you getting an auto or manual tC?

sweet.. good choice. But you DEFINETALLY want something solid for manual. Something you'll be pulling around all day, you don't want falling apart.

I'm not 100% sure about that specific ****, but if can just ask them if they have a universal mount system... This usually consist of rubber inserts into the **** and that fits it on top of the shaft... Although I have no idea how the neon works and you better hope it runs on batteries... If it runs by wiring then thats another issue :D

If you can find someone with an old Momo ****, then they probably can make you a deal on the universal inserts to make most standard sized shift ***** fit...

Thanks for all the help everyone.

However, another thought has arisen to me... I remember back when I was 17, I had gotten a neon license plate frame (that I had bought in NJ) and had gotten pulled over twice for it until I finally took it off.

They told me it was illegal in PA to have that.

What is the law on neon INSIDE the car in PA?

I'm just wondering because I don't want to get pulled over again.

Also, I looked into how the neon shift ***** are powered and so far, I've found that most of them hook into the cigarette lighter plug or can be permanently wired into the fuse box. However, I would rather it just be battery powered but I haven't found any like that quite yet.
