Default radio install question

i am installing a kenwood ddx-6019 and i wanted to know a couple of things...

first: has anyone done one of these themselves and if so hopefully you can help
second: does anyone have a lay out as to what each wire controlls on the xb radio harness (i downloaded the electrical layouts from SL but i cannot seem to find everything)
third: if someon has done one of these and knows which wire goes where that would be great (i suk with electronics but i am cheap enough to try and do it myself)

ps if there is already a post out there that will help a link would be appreciated.

thanks!

just buy the wiring harness from circuit city or best buy its about 15 or 20 and will save you a lot of time and when you're ready to sell you don't have any spliced wires and can put it back to stock much easier. Circuit City even has wiring harnesses that plug into the radio and the car for a super simple install.

I bought the same HU from Cructhfield. I also bought the mounting kit and wiring harness. If you didn't get the harness, you should. It'll be a complete waste of your time to try to wire it up without it. With the harness, all you have to do is follow the simple instructions and solder it all together. I had my stock radio out , and the new one in, in less than an hour. I did make one huge mistake. I didn't connect the "Power antenna" wire. This wire is what gives you reception. Without it connected, the HU will not get all of the stations and you'll think that it sucks. Make sure that you connect it the first time so you don't have to take everything apart and do it later like I did.

If you have any other ?'s. feel free to send me a message. I'll do what I can to help.

Good luck and you won't regret getting the new HU. It sounds great and the picture is nice and crisp.

Here is a good wiring diagram that might help.

Congrats on the install. If you connect the e-brake wire to the ground wire, it'll play anytime you put a DVD in it. Don't get caught watching a DVD while driving. In Kansas it's a huge fine and I'd bet it is where you live to.

Have fun and send pics when you get em. We'd all like to see your handy work.

Peace

i'm new to this, so don't bash me
I just got an aftermarket pioneer head unit.
I think I need an rca adapter? is that correct?

What exactly is the name of the harness, and where can I get one?

Thanks =)

this post is kinda old but um, if you go to circuit city or best buy or any store of that nature and ask for an aftermarket radio adapter they will show you the exact one that will fit your setup.

they may ask you what type of radio you want to install so have that ready but other than that it is really simple. pm me if you have any other questions.
