Default Relocated OEM domelight!I can see the light!

Since I put in my dropdown screen,I have been putting up with even less light!
So I finally dropped the headliner ,again,to put in my OEM light.
I mounted it between the sunvisors as you can see.
Pretty easy to do once you get the headliner down!
Almost like it was made to go there!
We will see the improvement tonight when it gets dark!
Check out the pics!

I got the mirror about 4 yrs ago at a buddies shop.
It is a Broadway Optics mirror with a blueish tint to it.Although you cant see it in the pic. Here is a seller that sells them on Ebay. They have come waaaaaaaay down in price! There are 2 types,a flat panel, and a convex which lets you see more to the sides.Mine is the flat panel one.
Once you get used to it,you will never use the stock one again!I keep taking it from car to car!

I was going to put mine in the rear over the cargo area, but i didn't think about putting it in the front. I wish i woulda done it while the headliner was down. its a b***h to take out.

I have the Icom 2800 in my Subaru. It's a great little unit. Nice setup you have. :D

How is your VHF/UHF antenna mounted on the xB?

maybe the wires can be spliced and to locate another dome light in the head liner since not all people will have the flip down monitor. time for a project.

Yes, very nice. How do you use the sunvisor, though?

Here is my Icom 901 control head:

http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lyl...&.dnm=b695.jpg

I'm using a Austin antenna triband (2m, 220, 440) on a Larson magmount base at the left rear corner of the roof. the coax runs into the rear hatch, outside the seal to the bottom, then circles up and through the seal and into the spare tire compartment. This drip loop keeps water out. After that, the coax runs around the spare to the right side of the car, then forward under the right side kick plates and B pillar trim and comes out under the passenger seat where the duplexer and radio are located.

Power comes from the battery through the left hand wiring grommet, then across the inside of the firewall and down the central hump to the radio.

With all that plastic in the front and rear bumpers, I'm thinking about making a dipole concealed behind the plastic. It wouldn't be as efficient as the vertical, but it would be nice and stealthy!

Kevin, how about a step-by-step on how to drop the headliner? I want to get at the underside to find hard points for a good luggage rack.

Thanks, and 73

Good point on the visors. Any idea on a work-around or perhaps the optimum size mirror that won't hit the visors when they are down?

Many sizes to choose from here

That would be awesome to splice another light in there, any info on that would be great.

As for the mirror, I bought a convex one at autozone for $8, just clips on tightly over the regular one. The visors hit if you flip them all the way down and out, but you can get decent coverage regardless if tall enough I guess.
