Default remote start?????

i am considering purchasing an alarm from scionspeacialties(bill) and he has been pretty cool so far answering most of my questions. i am wondering does anyone have this alarm? if so are you satisfied? are there any pros or cons to it? i want remote start even though i have a five speed and have been advised against it but i still want it, does anyone with a 5spd have remote start? if so do you have any problems with it?......its alot of questions but i really want to get a good alarm.......thanks for the info.

The problem with remote-starting a 5spd isn't the alarm, it will do it.

The problem comes from people who leave their car in gear when they park. Unless you wire the alarm up right (and some alarms you can't wire it up this way) you can do damage to the car.

One of the installers I used to work with had remote start on his 5spd car. His girlfriend borrowed it one day and then brought it back before he was supposed to go home.

Hit the buttons to start it and the car spent the next 15 seconds bouncing itself off the back of our managers truck.

His girlfriend had left it in 1st (her dad had taught her that habit) and the e-brake was not on.

There are ways of messuring tach resistance so this can't happen, but most alarm companies will not warrenty the alarm if you've used it to remote start a 5spd. Bad things can happen. (Replace my old managers truck with a kid, or something, in the situation above, could be bad.)

I have Bill's alarm and I think it is great. I have 5-speed and I DIDN'T use the remote start. I know it is a nice feature, but on the manual, I think it is too much of a risk. Like Pulse said... too many bad possible scenarios to deal with.

I had remote start on my 5spd. CRX. And I always left it in neutral with the hand brake on. But I never let anyone else drive it other than my girl friend. And she is aware of it (doesn't use it) and does't now how to use it anyway because it is a combination of buttons that have to be pressed in order for it to start. It's dangerous and I would not recommend it. As for my xb I decided to not go with the remote start this time around.........
