Replacement Tweeter for Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1
For the past week or so, for some reason my right tweeter works perfectly 90 percent of the time, but RANDOMLY while driving it will start crackling and get real fuzzy. If I turn the volume on the head unit all the way down for like 20 seconds and then turn it back up, it seems to fix it until it happens again randomly. Its very rare now that I get to drive without this happening. Im assuming the tweeter is going. I already resoldered new speaker wire to the tweeter and I thought it was fixed, but still does it. The connection is very good and nothing is loose. I was thinking about replacing both tweeters with the kappa 10.2t, 10.5t, or 10.7t, but im not sure if they will work with the kappa perfect 6.1 crossover box and such. Can someone advise me on which model tweeters will work, or which ones I have already? If I cant find a matching tweeter set, I think im going to get some diamond hex serioes speakers.
What I would do is contact Infinity. I had a tweeter from a Boston Acoustics component set die on me, and I was able to order a replacement tweeter through their parts department. They would also be able to recommend a possible alternate tweeter. The x-over in the Perfects is set at 3500 Hz, so I think the 107t would be a good replacement because it has a similar frequency response to the Perfect tweets.
You say you checked all wiring, but I don't see how if you are unable to get to the crossover. Since it sounds like it goes out intermittently, a wire is probably shorting out somewhere unless you are overloading the speakers with too much amp power. I would switch the left and right tweeters first and see if you still have the problem.

See in order to get to the crossover box of the working tweeter I have to cut a bunch of zip ties under the dash, which would be a pain in the ___. The malfunctioning tweeter's crossover box is accessible by just taking out the glove box.

Please don't take this post as my being a smart a$$, I'm just trying to help out.
if it turns out not to be your crossover and you wanna be cheap and fix it yourself; often times the leads inside the platic housing of the tweeter will burn. You can open up the tweeter and you will see where the lead connects to a thin wire wound around the magnet. Look for any breaks in the thin wire and if you find one repair it and you'll be back in business.
I answered that in my earlier post. Also, although I don't recommend it, you can wire the stock tweeters to the x-over temporarily since tweeters get very little power. I ran the stock ones for about a week or so while waiting for a replacement tweeter with a 100x2rms amp and they sounded much better than I expected.
so the 10.7t? Thats 2ohm, is that the same ohm raiting as the original kappa perfect tweeter
EDIT: It looks like the 10.5t is the closest match, but i need someone to verify that

I talked to infinity and they said the closest match would be the 10.5t. I ended up ordereing the direct replacents from them though for 31 bucks a tweeter. I ordered two so if it happens ever again ill have an extra
