Default Replacing the back speakers... a nightmare!

Hi everyone

I just (Friday) replaced my sound system with a Pioneer DEH-P660 and Boston Acoustics 6" (front and back)

1st off: what the hell was Toyota thinking ribbiting the speakers into place!

2nd: Warning: You will have to remove the back seats to get to remove the back panels! to get to the back speakers (which are smaller then the frount speakers... strange) so the installer at JE Electronics needed to do some cutting to get the 6" speakers to fit...

It was exhausting but the system sounds amazing!!! and thanks to JE Electronics.. not only did they install the system, but we sat arround talking and looking at the car, we came up with a damn good idea for the subs and amps...

i can beat the "ribbited" speaker, my previa has 5.25 inch front, but instead of being mounted with bolts along the edges, they were bolted from behind the magnet. Talk about a pain in the ___ fabricating a speaker holder and also not interefereing with the window.

To be honest,, it is very stupid to have to go through all that work just for speakers that don't really make that huge of an impact in the sound when driving (not your speakers, speakers in general). I first changed my rears with decent quality speakers and it was too much of a hassle for a normal guy. The second time I switched everything out for my components, I said screw it and put the speakers in the rear doors.

recomendation for future audio peeps- components for the 4 speakers up front, regs for the rear.

Oh hell yes, the Boston Acoustics 6" sound real nice, I always have friends in the car, so its nice for them to have some sweet sounds as well..

Next I plan on swaping the dash speakers with Boston Acoustics 4" (they will fit, we alreay poped the grill and looked)

After that I need to save 500.00 bucks for the custom enclosure with th 2 10's and Amp..

lastly I want to put in a 14.5" screen and I'm set for the sound and vid...

I have till 8/28/04 to get my car ready... for HIN Florida!

You must be buying the wrong speakers. If you replace stock speakers with some good quality speakers and cannot tell a large difference then you are not listening to the right things. There is no way that the stock speakers in the Scion compare to the quality of some MB Quart Q series components.

Like I said, my first time around was with $60 alpine type S. They were no were near the quality I was looking for. Second time, $180 Infinity components. There is a big difference. I know what sounds better and $60 is not worth my time.
