Running Cathodes at home?
You could try getting a 12V DC adapter, like a nintendo one or something. Then cut the end off that would normally go to the nintendo, and run the two wires to your cathodes power. Just make sure you know which is which.
If you don't plan on using it frequently, you could get two 6V batteries (the big ones for flashlights) run them in series with a switch to power the lights.
Let us know if you find something that works.

If you don't want to cut your nintendo cable you can buy an adapter without an end on it from various places.
