Shortened Rearview Mirror Stem

Has anyone replaced/modified the stem that holds the rearview mirror? I would like to shorten it so that my rearview mirror is closer to the headliner. I have a Broadway mirror and I would like it to be directly behind my tint strip.

actually there was this bB i saw long time ago who did this but instead of shortening it he extended it more so that his broadway mirror wouldn't hit his sunvisors. if anyone has a link to this pls post up...thanks!
