sound deadening material
I have a very crucial question. I understand that everone is interested in using edead matting but im more for the liquid paint deadner that they offer. Has anyone had an oppertunity to try that out and what is the sound comparison of the mat and paint. I dont want to put too much weight on my car and think the paint is a better way to go. Or even a combo of both 2 layers of paint one of strips. who knows till someone trys it. Let me know if anyone has... Chace

Ya, lots of people do this. But, you MUST apply the liquid over the mat, not the other way around. The mat doesn't stick to the liquid. Whichever you use, they end in the same result. They're simply used for different purposes. The liquid is easy to apply in places that aren't easily accessible(inside doors/fenders), places you would have a hard time sticking a sheet of mat.
well, that makes a little sence on the application. Ok, I now if I use just the paint will it give just as much deadening or more then the mat will. Im sorry if Im asking to much questions, trying to go as light as possible. Especially on the back hatch. Thanks, Chace

You want weight when deadening. If you don't want added weight, then this isn't really the way to go because that's the point of deadening, adding weight.

Also I read that you need a solvent to prep the surface whats good to use?
Never having done this, I'd like to know how you learn-ed sound deadening folks would prioritize which surfaces to apply sound damping mats to first, to best reduce Road Noise.
I know, I know, apply to head, etc. etc. Other than my head. I don't really feel like applying it to every surface, just the most important ones.

1. Wheel wells. Most roadnoise comes from tires.
2. Doors. -Some cars have a good amount of deadening in their doors, ours don't. This helped cut down noise in my car.
3. Floor. -Closest thing to the road, of course there's noise coming from there, not to mention the exhaust and tranny. Don't forget your firewall.
