Default speaker watts

Does anyone know the exact specs for the speakers inside the XB? What I'm curious about is how many watts they are and how much power they can handle..... The dealership installed a 400 watt (100 x 4) amp in my XB and I just wanted to make sure that wasn't too much power for the factory speakers...

Did the dealer install upgraded speakers? From what I've read the stock speakers are rated at 20 watts rms and 50 watts peak. That is not to say that your amp is over driving them because they could have adjusted the gain on your amp to avoid overdriving them.

If you feel that you are not getting the most out of your system you can always adjust the gain on your amp. The way to do this is to turn the gain all the way down on your amp, then turn the volume all the way up on your stereo. With your stereo on, you slowly turn up the gain on the amp until you get slight distortion through the spaekers, then back off the gain a little.

Thanks for the tip Onyx..I will try that out and see what happens. And to answer your other question, no, the dealer did not upgrade the speakers, just installed the amp. You would hope they know what they are doing when they say they can install that size amp without changing anything else....
