Started my fiberglass project!
The carpet on the floor was removed before i glassed.
I have mounted my woofer ring, and will be fleecing over it in the morning. I hope to have it completed by tomorrow night, and then I can work on finishing the outside, which I think will be carpet. Anyone know where to get oem carpet?

Yea, it took some *****, but I figured what the hell, its only money. I taped off the car WAY more than I had too because I wanted to be sure I didnt get resin on it, and I didn't!
Id reccomend anyone to give it a shot, the worst that can happen is you mess up and start over....the glass isn't THAT expensive....the most you could lose is $100 or so.

As for the resin, it takes a few hours to dry....didnt really notice any dripping....its not exactly a "neat" job....especially the inside of the enclosure.
At this point I think I am going to carpet it....its my first time and the edge where it meets up with the other side of the hatch isn't PERFECT....so to spend $300+ to paint it wouldn't be justified IMO.
Here are some new pics!
This is just the fabric and a coat of resin....I just put 4 layers of glass on and it is drying right now.
Test fitted in the car!
Note: The last pic looks like the woofer is not flush, but that is just a piece of glass in the way, once sanded it will sit flush.

I'm almost positive I am going to carpet it with the OEM carpet....possibly paint it to match the car but most likely not. Anyway, I put it in and installed everything temporarily, and it sounds great!

Sorry I didnt get more pics, the cam died....any suggestions on how I should finish it?

I still don't understand why you glassed with teh carpet in. It's not going to be very snug fitting.
what will be under the finished product so the the match is identical........you would know this if you were really a pro at this.......[/quote]
im not sure what your OEM carpet is like but if its black then www.selectproducts.com is a good place. Actually they have a bunch of colors but noy specifically OEM

If you want it to look like it's seamless, you glass with the carpet out and redo every bit of the carpet. See the crap mess he's got with the carpet in the pics? Wait till he tries to throw the new carpet on there. If you want it to fit and be installed properly, you remove the entire contents, and glass it to the shape of the metal, not the carpet, as the carpet will be pressed down, and eventually wear thin. ( When that happens, it's gonna slide around in the area, even if it's just a little bit.). Not to mention the fact that if you don't buy carpet off the same roll it's not going to match perfectly. For a clean, professional install, you have no choice but to recarpet.
I knew that it wouldnt match perfectly....although I don't know which carpet you wanted me to remove?...The seat back?....it doesnt really come off. If you mean the carpet on the left side of the hatch...its just a plastic panel that covers the spare tire, and thank you for the idea to re-carpet that...I honestly didn't even think of it, and now I am going to do it.
I'm gonna go down to Home Depot and see what kind of carpet they have, maybe they have some type of automotive carpet.
