I installed a gromaudio iPod interface in my 2005 xB. It connects to my 3G ipod via the dock connector. It works just like it should. The gromaudio thing ends in a cable, but I thought it would be nice to have the actual ipod dock in my car so the ipod stands up. The stereo doesn't see the ipod when the dock is hooked up. I tried two different docks and neither work, but both docks work when hooked up to computers.

I would have thought the connector on the top of the ipod dock would just mirror the connector on the back, but I guess that's not the case.

Any ideas on why plugging the gromaudio cable into the ipod works, but putting a dock into the chain doesn't work?

 

from what i read and the model i saw its only works with 4th gens and newer. outside of that there may be a straight up incompatibility with the HU. let me look into it a bit more

 

what ipod specifically are u using?

 

IT's a 3G ipod. It DOES work, but only if I use the cable connector. When I attach the cable to the Apple dock and put the ipod in the dock, it doesn't work.
