Default Tapping into headlight switch on xB

Hi everyone,

I searched this site for a while and didn't find what I was looking for... I want to install a few LEDs into my xb (into vents, door handle area, etc) and I would like for these lights to come on when I turn my headlights on.

I am wondering - which wire can I tap so that I can connect these LEDs to the headlight switch on my xb? Where is the best/easiest location to tap into this wire?

I appreciate your help! I hope you have an awesome new years!

Check this out. It's the same in the XB. This is how I hooked up mine. In addition, it controls the brightness with the dash light adjust. The other connections on this plug is just on & off with the light switch without the dimmer.

Hope that helps. Lets see some pics when your'e done.

I'm currently having fun with installing 4" cold cathodes from Ozium. Cheap and small for an easy install.

Thank you for the nice link, losmorob. I threw together a crappy mspaint picture of how i think the wiring would go:

Is this accurate? is this all it takes to hook up leds? The drawing is really simple but i assume it's the same if i wanted to hook up about 20 leds to the same positive cable, correct? Are there any problems with this?

I appreciate any input you may have! thanks again!

I followed the post that specified to hook up the ground to the ground terminal on the connecter found under the center console. I think you have to have the ground attached to this circut to make it dim with the dimmer wheel on the dash.

I have 4 led in my cupholders that are wired together to one + wire and one - wire that is attached to the plug under the center console. I don't think they draw a whole
lot of power. Seems to work o.k.

I'm just a backyard do it yourself'er, so please be careful on what you do. I'm not an automotive electrical tech.

Hope that helps.
