Great use of Toyota inventory ..

What was the point ? I thought it would be easier to get the leather wrapped wheel for the xA.

If you are updating better equipment, hind sight being 20/20, the 06 airbag set up and radio with Ipod may have been a more practical upgrade. At least that way you get steering wheel controls.

Otherwise, it looks good and if you were going for different, you got it ..

well want the toyota emblem but couldn't get the ist airbag because (1) hard to get a hold of and (2) it has only one plug for the airbag while the xa has two plugs. i wanted leather steering wheel. didn't want the '06 steering wheel because (1) might have to rewire to get the steering wheel control and (2) i needed a cassette player to play children's music (still have lots of it on cassettes).

thanks a bunch.
i used the entire airbag from a late '03-'05 model echo. it fits perfectly on the tc wheel. in the beginning i was looking for the echo airbag from a '90-'92 echo because it shares the same shape as the xa's but then it has only one plug for the airbag.

The only way I can think of to get the '06 steering wheel controls onto an older model would be to change the entire steering column... it gets complicated in there... and then the wiring would have to be made to match up...

Nice job. The one I'm watching for is putting a tilt/telescope wheel and column into an xB...

Love this mod!!! Looks great!

About how much did you spend, and how easy(or hard) was it to install the tC steering wheel?

i spent about 50$ for the echo airbag from a local junk. spent 20$ (ebay) for the first tc wheel then realized i needed the shroud that goes behind the wheel. no one on scionlife seemed to have one for sale. lucky for me, another tc wheel on ebay had the shroud included. spent 35$ for that wheel. spent 7$ for the steering wheel puller.

it was very easy to remove the wheel if you have the steering wheel puller. it took no muscle at all. took about 1 hr for the entire procedure.

i would think so since the xa and xb seem to share the same airbag and steering wheel. actually i think any toyota or lexus wheel would work as long as you swap the wheel and the airbag with two plugs..
