what are the best sounding speakers you've heard?
I probably should have used this instead of my last post....What are the best sounding SPEAKERS you've heard (not Subwoofers) and how much are they (if you know).
IMO....I like JL audio...Focal.....and Boston Acoustics the best.....

Well I'm sure theres some great sounding speakers but there probably over $1,000. But for most people the best set I can think of that I have actually owned I would say Boston Acoustics Pro Series speakers. Can handle tons of power while staying crystal clear. I'm sure some would sya MB or Focal. But Focal needs a good deal of tuning to make sound good and power handling on them is not much same for the MB except they lack midbass. CDT makes some very good speakers, have a owned a few pairs. JL makes some good components but there not beating any of the 4 brands I mentioned. This is not a guess either I have owned every brand of these except for the Focal.
My four sets I've owned should be top contenders:
Diamond Audio Hex - best bang for the buck under $300 if you can find them that cheap. A bit bright though and not as much midbass as my other sets. Not a top 5 set, but better than say Infinity and etc from big chains.
Focal Utopia 165W3 - best deal authorized is about $950or so. Plenty of midbass, but thesmall midrange didn't do the system justice. I heard the 165W and it was awesome, just not as much midbass but you can't expect it to compare to a 3-way system
Rainbow Platinum - These use to be like $2k and I had one of maybe 20 sets in north america 2 years ago. Now they can be had for like $1200 retail without crossover since their's a new distributor. VERY NICE tweeter, not dull and not bright, just right. GREAT midbass response and very detailed guitars.
current set - Seas Lotus Reference Mid and Scan-Speak 700000 tweeter -
These tweeters are AWESOME, you can't beat em, no way. $900 for a pair of tweeters on Madisound.com The mids have great midbass response as well. They're like $400 a pair on madisound.com. thing about these tweeters or most home tweeters is that they'll play LOW, for a tweet that is. This tweeter is considered a "super tweet" as how the W7 is a "super sub". Playing lower lets the tweeter handle more of the vocals and etc which i prefer so my mid can concentrate on other things.
I've heard the MB QSDs and they are well worth theprice of admission if you can find them for 400 or so. Also have heard the Alpine F1($3,000) and they use the same tweeter as my Scan-Speak just about. Nice but I'll pass even though I can get em for $2k.
Lots of nice speaker sets out there. I spend about 70% of my money onmy front stage as that's where most of the music is and you can't pound that sub 24/7. Each extra $300 you spend on speakers will make a world of difference. Honestly I didn't audition ANY of these speakers before I bought them because no one stocks them and my current set is oieced together. I jjust read reviews and get friend's advice who've owned them.

For Quality And Budget go with ReAudio www.reaudio.com or CDT www.cdtaudio.com . If you are interested in CDT let me know, I can refer you to receive a heck of a discount for any of the CDT products.
If you want to go a bit more expensive, get Focal http://www.focal-america.com/, or Dynaudio http://www.dynaudio.com/.
All these I have heard installed in demo cars from local shops ranging between the entry level to the flagship models. The "Entry-level" from any of these brands blows most company's flagship models out of the water. Have fun. Research, Research, Research. I personally have the "Entry-level" Re 6.5 comps. Great sound Quality!
Seriously, no matter which speakers you get., it will all come down to the install . . . bottom line.
p.s. Rainbow audio, is all hype.

But hey everyone's got an opinion. I haven't heard RE's stuff so I won't comment on them. Not to sound like an ___ but have you heard the rainbow Platinums? Or the Pro Vans?
If you've heard the Platinums then cool that's your opinion, but in all likely hood you have not.
