i can't stand mb quarts. sorry, but i always thought that they were the most over-rated. can't play them loud without hurting your ears. i have diamond audio and am pleased with them. i also like boston acoustics, cd tech, or focal.
BLAH BALH BLAH. I really never understood why people ask this question in person or even on a board. Anyone can tell you this is the speaker that sounds the best and believe me I have heard them all. Some sounded really good others sounded like ___. It really depends on what your prefrence is in how you like your music, Flat, more hight then mid or more mid then high. All I can suggest is to first pick a few cd's that you really like of different types. Take those tracks and play them in a nice high fi home system either at a buddy's house or go to a high end store and ask to demo a few systems with your music. After you have done that then take those same track to as many car audio shops you can and start listening. Some speakers sound great with only one type of music so test and test and also remember that what you hear on the demo floor is not going to be the same as in your car. Acustics are a tuff one in any car.
So there it is in my opinion get out there and have fun in searching for what works for your ears and budget. Never settle for someone elses EARS!!!!

Focal Utopias are the best on the market. Depending on your budget and your tastes, everyone will differ. Also, you must consider the music you listen to. what type of music do you listen to if i may ask, i may be able to recommend some stuff.

The W7s hit HARD, so you will want to make sure you put more power to your front speakers than just the HU puts out. Probably a dedicated amp. Otherwise your bass will just drown everything else out. I've had a system like that in a previous car and it is fun, but really doesn't sound that good for really listening to music. Also, a JL 13W7 set up is pretty expensive. The better sounding systems I've heard (and much of the advice/posts I've read) usually spend at least as much on the front sound stage (front speakers, head unit, amp for front speakers) as for their bass setup. Are you going for pure bass and don't care too much about sound quality or do you want a well-balanced system? As for SCI_TC_GUY, there should be plenty of decent front component sets for around $200 that sound MUCH better than the stocks and also significantly better than some best buy $80 speakers. I'm still relatively new to car audio but have been reading quite a bit, for front component sets around $200 I hear lots of ppl going with Infiniti Kappas. I'm sure there are many other good sets for around that price range as well.
yeah.....i can't stand infinity hardly.....I've been in car audio about 5 years....done 34 installs myself.....someone had mentioned fusion components....anyone ever heard them in person???? I"m just trying to get as many opinions as possible...i want something with really good bass/midbass....maybe some boston acoustics....

"I do not have it yet but will be. I am looking to get the JLW7 12"."
i used to only use JLs and they were great. but nowdadays, there are so many better and cheaper speakers to choose from. JL don't dominate like they used to.
My theory is: let the speakers do their job; let the mid play the mids, highs play the highs, and subs play the bass.

I used to sell and install custom home and mobile audio and video. I've heard a lot of different stuff, but it all comes down to what YOU like. I can tell you all day that this is the greatest speaker ever, but if you don't think so, it doesn't matter.
I listened to brand of speakers at SEMA called Beyma. Thay are from Spain, and they impressed the sh*t outta me. Very clean sounding, with real frequency repsonse. They seemed to respond to the source material in a predictable way, without sounding overly bright or boomy. They let me demo about 6 different combinations of separates, with and without subwoofers, and they won me over.
They build everything themselves, from the tweeter to the bass transducer. Really impressive stuff.
From my experience, the nicest sounding set of speakers that I have ever owned was a set of a/d/s 320is components. My goodness, were they sweet. I would love to have another set from the years when a/d/s was its own company. They made some great stuff.

These guys want opionions and here we are. I would NEVER be able to listem to th speakers I buy. Why? Well durh, shops are cheap and they don't have the nice stuff on the boards, or let alone in stock.
SCI_TC_GUY, I've heard an xB with the higher end boston acoustic component coaxials and it sounded pretty nice. Of course it also had lots of other stuff in it including a 10W7 so I couldn't really get a feel for just the speakers themselves. Boston seems to be a decent brand though. You mentioned you wanted nice midbass, you might consider putting some effort into deadening your doors and/or using a deflector plate of some sort. That should help the mid-bass and overall sound quality.
