Default Why the Sony hate?

Just doin' some speaker shopping, and noticed quite a bit of Sony hatred. Wondering why? The speaker specs (sensitivity, freq response, wattage ) all seem to be o.k.. Just wondering if there's something I'm missing. Looking for hard stats, not a high school popularity contest.

Thanks for your time,
Ken "Jetblast" Thompson

lately sony has been disregarding their customer base and focusing more on innovative (and overpriced) toys. Quality for lower priced items has gone down over time due to this. They had a major shift around the sony hq and have since discontinued the overpriced crap and even plasma tv sales and are focusing more on mainstream affordability again.

Dont trust the numbers solely. Let your ears help you decide. As said above thier quality for car stereo is way down compared to most of the other thing they produce.

Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner. In my casual observation when the Sony Xplod line first appeared circa 1997 they were actually some pretty decent products. The coaxial speakers in particular sounded really good for the price, though I have to wonder about their logic for naming electronic products "Xplod". Lately it seems that they have went decidedly downmarket, and as near as I can tell they no longer offer their premium "ES" line and uber-premium "XES" line, that's a shame because as some of the old-school audiophiles will tell you that stuff was great. yeah, i would never recommend sony car audio equipment over other brands. however, their personal, mobile, and home electronics kick-@$$. i would say 90% of my computer, tv, camera, gaming, and cd/mp3/stereo equipment is sony. yeah you can get some of the same quality or whatever with other brands, but you can't get the same quality design.
however, i do have to say i am a bit disappointed in the computers that sony puts out (i have the z1 laptop and RB desktop) in terms of the CPU cooling, noise, and lifetime performance. they suck at cooling so everything gets too hot too easily, and they become very noisy after a while, and thus their lifetime goes way down. oh well.

everyone has their own opinions about what company is best. let your ears do the judging in regards to speakers. also, look in magazines, go to car shows, ask the owners what they like and why.

sony, RF (the new stuff), ect....

not alot of people hating on alpine, eclipse, jl, ect....

but my vote goes for eD! :D
