WOW! Thanks for all the pointers. I will not be reverse mounting the sub. I want it to be flush with the floor so I can use that area again. Will going from 1/2 to 3/4 make much of a difference in air space for the sub? If not then I might just go with 3/4. As soon as I finish my led tail light retro, which should be by next week, I plan on getting started. I also need to sell my subs I have now. Just need to get off my butt a post it
Again thanks for all the help and tips
tere isn' much diffrence in effective air space BUT if using 1/2" you'll need to brace a bit because it will flex more and can cause enclosure rattle. again if done right, can save on a little effective air space while making the box lighter. if you use Birch though... more money but less bracing needed and it's even lighter and stronger then MDF, last longer and sounds just the same. think of it as the carbon fiber of the wood world. dents the pockets a bit more, but stronger and lighter.
I know I am late to the party..but I didnt see this mentioned.
Wear a mask & goggles when you work with MDF. I dont know if is just my local MDF selection but everytime I have made boxes with MDF I get fiber boogers. That stuff is dangerous to your lungs and eyes and is not fun to try to blow out of your honker.
This is one of few things I wear bodily protection for.

YES! that is something that wasn't mentioned, though i would figure someone would notice the amount of dust and would get the idea to get a face mask atleast. the stuff will act just like volcanic ash when you breath it in, turns to cement in your lungs, MDF wont do that, but it will build up and cause the same problems.
another great factor about working with birch ply, not so much of a problem with it.
