Default will aftermarket xm tuner/antenna work with stock scion ..

XM has an aftermarket tuner with antenna for direct hook up to an xm ready stereo, will this work with our scions (tc) as opposed to paying almot $500 at a dealership?

Thanks

Nope, sorry it won't. OEM head unit has a different connector.

My thoughts too. There are a couple of options. XM from Toyota. Full aftermarket head unit with XM tuner or a Roady or other Plug n Play unit with a PIE adapter that plugs into the head unit. The PIE adapter provides an auxiliary input throught the factory radio. Good luck with your decision. I've had my tC for 4 days and miss my XM already. My dilemma is I'm not crazy about my options about as to where it will look good.

Anyone tried hooking up XM with the adapter? I'd like to know if it affects the sound quality at all. I don't really want to sell all of my XM junk (don't want to go portable either- reception with the roadie blows around here) but I also don't want my sound to suffer either....

you do realize the roady does have a line-out. it isn't just FM modulator only.... Although not the most elegant solution it does get the job done. and with a pie adapter it should have the same quality as anything else out there.

Hmm... did not realize that.... I've been spoiled as of late with my hardwired XM system in my Corolla. The roadie w/the line out might be a good option. Would I be able to control the XM thru the head unit (and stuff the roadie out of the way as to not have extra things lying around) or would I still need to use the roadie for controls?

You'd still need to use the Roady for the controls.
