Default Wiring in SUBS (home brew)

Does any one know or has anyone tried to wire up a sub or even 2 subs from an existing stock stereo system.

What I am getting at is this...Wiring up 2 4-Ohm speakers in parallel will drop your resitence down to 2-Ohms thus doubling your watt output on that particualar channel.

So what if you were to take 2 8" subs and parallel them into a tC's stock rear speaker location...then just put an inline LOW PASS filter on the subs to cut out mids and highs.

Now I know the deck in the front will get hot since it is doing twice as much work on those 2 channels, but Pioneer has been know to create AMPs and Decks that cann handle great loads and still remain stable.

So a 50 watt channel would jump up to 100 watts...but divided by 2 (it's now driving 2 speakers) so back down to 50 watts to each speaker.

Can this be done...has anyone tried something like this?

very bad idea.

think logically....

do you think your stock deck's wiring harness can handle the extra load?

that 16GA power wire from your stock wiring harness... gonna handle it?

no.

spend $50 and buy an amp.. do it right lol

the problem is that the stock radio doesn't put out enough power to supply the subs with enough power. What will happen is the subs will try and draw power out of the amp, and cause the amp to overheat, frying the internal amplifier in the radio... or you will blow the subs due to distortion...

As far as lowering the impedance to create more power... it can be done, But it is highly unreccomended. The dynamic range lowers causing the internal amp to not play as cleanly, as well as remaining hot all the time shortening it's life DRAMATICALLY!

I don't recomend that you attempt to do what you are stating.
