Default xB passenger air bag question

Does anyone know which direction the passenger airbag knockout blows?
Does it come completely off, or does it hinge on one side? I'd sure appreciate it...

not exactly - let me explain...

when the airbag goes off, that knockout area on the dash needs to go somewhere, so the airbag can come out. my question is -

when the airbag deploys, does the knockout blow completely off, or does it hinge at 12, 3, 6, or 9?

First off, the repair manuals don't clarify how the bags deploy.

I believe the passenger bag cover splits , with the two parts hinging at 6 and 12, but I have no firm backup for this.

Here, however, are some possible hints:

Here's my 'guess' on where the 'passenger airbag cover' splits when activated (my marks in red):

Hope someone who's had one in their face can respond...

Tom

Tomas is correct. There is no knockout. The airbag cover is flexible and the plastic is thin along the "H" as shown on the picture at that point. What happens is when the airbag discharges, the charge breaks the airbags along the red lines. The two newly created flaps move back and the airbag inside deploys.
It happened to my xb when my brother hit another car going at such a slow speed that you couldn't see the damage from 20 feet.
