Default XB Sound Options

I am looking for some input for a moderately priced upgrade from stock, and a few technical questions.

I think I will keep the stock Pioneer HU, since the controls are already wired into the steering.

4 channel LOC

Sony Passive EQ

Q. there are 6 speakers. a 6 channel amp? or a 4 channel? How would that configure?

Elemental Designs NINe.2 amp

(2) front 4" round speakers
Pioneer TS-G14041R or A1057

(4) Mid and Rear Kick 6.5" 2way
Pioneer TS-G1641R or D161R

Quarter Wave Designs down firing under-seat enclosure

Q. With the mids handled well by four 6.5's, should the Sub be an 8 or a 10"?

Elemental Designs NINe.2 amp
Elemental Designs 11Kv.2 Dual 2 Ohm speaker

Any alternatives or suggestions would be great. I am more concerned with sound quality and a matched system than overall SPL. The XB will be deadened. The music will be primarily Live concert bootlegs.

thanks

If you're wanting better than good sound quality, nix the pioneer speakers alltogether and get an eD(i)6500s component system for $250 and amp them as well.... CD's/MP3's/etc are recorded in 2 channel stereo so you only need 2 channels to accurately reproduce the original recording (K.I.S.S.)... I'd personally get a 10" sub... the 650mids (part of the 6500s component system) are an excellent midrange/midbass driver and will be easy to blend in a sub correctly... Having the components will increase the SQ by leaps and bounds over having coaxials all over the place...

heck, even ditching all the pioneer speakers and getting the eD(i)6000s component system($125) for the front with an amp would sound alot better....

if u want to ditch the factor head, which is the best upgrade u can make and you want to keep the controls on the wheel than look at PAC's SWIX interface at (pac-audio.com)

I was going to do that last, from a cost/cash perspective. due to the stock HU being less terrible than the stock speakers

TC is pretty much dead on here. I would look elsewhere than Pioneer for a midrange/tweeter combo. I've personally not heard the ED stuff but if the interweb buzz is even half true I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. My $.02 would be a JL Audio 10W1V2 4 ohm subwoofer and a pair of their XR 650CXI's in the doors to handle your speaker needs then find a quality 4 channel amplifer (that ED would be excellent) and BLAMMO instant system.
