Default xB Tailgate

What is the best way to remove the tabs on the inside tailgate of the xB. I have noticed these same tabs on other areas of the car and I have had the darndest time getting them off. Is there some trick Im missing?

Im going to have to check this out. Cause I been jamming one side with a screw driver while trying to jam the other side with another screwdriver while using my teeth to pull it off. Ok well maybe minus the teeth part.

i have those on my Camry, and if your fingernails don't work, try using a plastic knife. The ones you eat at parties with... They worked well for me and didn't damage any body parts.

Ouch, don't use knives etc. use the right tool for the job. It's called a panel popper or door trim tool. If you're going to be doing a lot of work on your car, invest in some of the more commonly used tools (Pick tools, panel poppers, soldering iron, screwdriver set) if you have a Snap-On or MAC truck near by. Even just stop by a Sears and get Craftsman tools. It just makes me cringe when people tell me they used a kitchen knife, coat hanger, or a flathead screwdriver (for something other than a screw) on their car.

panel popper/door trim tools are only sold on mac trucks and the like. i used to work at sears and nope , i've tried dealers , nope , i've tried auto parts stores and nope.

it's gotta be off a truck , or from a paint/body shop material place. and theyre not cheap or easy to find. I want one SOOO bad. lol

i'd hate to correct you, but i bought my pannel removal tool at pepboys. you can check autozone, advanced auto, stores like that.

snap-on/mac does sell them, but they're very expensive.

crutchfield even sells one,

I have this set but only because I used to do this for a living. If you're only going to use it a few times, all you really need is UTV615. $11 ain't that bad. Pick up the UTV616 while your at it and you can get to those hard to reach places

If that's too much for you check Pep Boys like Big Jim said I don't have a Pep Boys near me so I had no clue they'd have it, thanks for the info though!

Like others said, I also got mine at a local auto parts place (not sure which) for around $10.

And I have removed the tabs before and a couple of them broke. No biggie, my OE spoiler came with replacements.

They can be purchased at a dealer, and I have seen them at Lowes in the drawers of specialty fasteners.

I was able to find them at autozone after a bit of searching in the tool section. Maybe not all the stores have them or maybe the one you looked at was out?

just an FYI--the panel poppers shown in the pic above are much better than the one I got (at kragen). The one I got has a mostly V-like slot, and the metal is too thick at the tip to slide under the plugs. its V shape made it hard to push in the sides of the plugs, so a couple broke when I levered it.

try to get one like in the pic.

I used a screwdriver to pop them up some and then slit the backside of a hammer in to pull them out. worked pretty good.
