Default Your favorite component speakers?

Now that I have some money, I'm ready to start upgrading again. Note, I didn't say "best" because that is subjective, so instead, post which components you really like.

I have the Elemental Designs 6000s. I was thinking about upgrading to the 6500s, but decided it would be dumb for me, since I'm so happy with my 6000s!!

The elemental speakers are very similier to the CDT stuff in looks from the speaker baskets to the crossovers but i liked the sound of the HD CDTs that i heard better but it may very well have been the combination of different amplifier and the installation

I was running my 6000s unamped for a week or two. The sound wasn't bad, but I needed the amp upgrade.

I'd put a second on infinity componants, I run all infinity speakers
including the sub and for the price I could not ask for better.
I have to admit that I am running an amp for the speakers (eclipse)
and another for the sub.

i use the infinity referece 6.5'' componant sets front and back + reference sub, and infinity amps. have been using this set up for years in past vehicles. $ is no object to me when it comes to sound systems, but for the type of music i listen to, infinity sounds the best to me. nice full audio reproduction. loud and clear w/ no distortion. i don't do sound competitions so i don't need 10000 watts of power, i just want it to sound spot on when i am rolling around - crisp highs, tight, full, deep bass. one thing about infinity though, the componant sets do not put out a lot of bass, they are made to be mids and highs.. you would NEED to add a sub for the bass, unlike other sets that will produce good bass through a 6.5'' mid. also, if you upgrade any speakers in your ride, you are not doing them any justice unless you amp them up IMO.

I like Infinity alot, Mainly the Kappa or Kappa Perfect line. Currently I've got the Kappa Perfect woofers in the doors on MDF baffles for spacing as they are huge. And a Memphis 3.5" coax in the dash. I cut the tweeter wires off the main connection and have them all connected to a pair of MB Quart 3 way crossovers. All run on an older Phoenix Gold MS-275. But thanks to ONE_HOT_BOX and the speaker pods, it's gonna change shortly.

I would have to say CDTs are probably the best sound per dollar going. If money is no object, they have components over 1k a set. They have $150 sets that sound real nice too. If you install them correctly,(any speaker for that matter) they have a very good presence and a pleasant tone. The upstage kit is a worthwhile investment too. I like them so well I have 4 sets in 2 cars.

I totally agree with you. I have got the 07s in my car with the drt-26 in aluminum as upstage and I LOVE them.
I know that the install plays a big part in the way my car sounds, the 4"s are in crazy solid kicks and the 7"s are mounted on super solid baffles aswell. My doors have crazy amounts of sound deadening material applied and ive got good power running them.
So far this setup is the best sounding that ive had in any car.
My buddy who did my install uses CDT more than any other driver on his installs and uses the HDs the most.

I have a Polk MMC6500 component set up front and Polk MMC525 coax in the back. In previous vehicles I had MB Quart and a/d/s but surprisingly I actually like the Polks better. They did a great job with the MOMO line.

edit: These are running off a Kicker ZX series 90x4 amp and they sound amazing.
