Default air tank

i have been tring to figure out what size of tank to use in my xb. i am limited where to mount it bc of my stereo setup. i was going to make a custom bracket to holdit to the roof but i was told i couldnt do it by the local police agency bc of blockin gmy view. i was wondering if anyone knows anything about the 4 gallon pancake style. are they good ones to use or should i just use two 2 gallon tanks.

thanks
shawn

What your local Police Agent told you was BS. Well... maybe I shouldn't say total BS for you, but it would be in California. As long as you have two side mirrors you don't even have to have a back window. You could actually weld in a solid panel where your back window is.

I do know that several people have been able to mount a 3 gallon under the back of their box. And a think some might have even squeezed a 5 gallon under there. Just be aware that it will probably receive a lot of abuse in that location.

I've got a 5 gallon underneath the car and you can barely see it below the rear bumper.
You should have no problems installing a 5 gallon under your car.
These work great: http://www.suicidedoors.com/Chrome5Gallon9Port.php
Also cut down the legs.

Pics!!!

What i've been curious of, is what do you normally do if your tank is located to far away from your compressor so the leader hose doesn't reach. What do you do to extend it? Do you just use a coupling and use regular DOT airline to go the rest of the way or what? Like if i move my tank outside and keep my comp inside, what should i put between the end of the Viair's leader hose and my watertrap @ the tank under the xB?

I don't have any pics, but I'll try to get some this weekend.

My compressor is mounted right by my tank so I don't need any more length than the leader hose.

I'm no expert on this stuff, but yes, I would think some airline & fittings would do the trick if your tank is too far away.
