Been trying to lower my car for a long time...but don't really know where I should be buyin my coilovers from. Also not sure as to what brand I should be looking for if any.

@holdstumt Is this what a lot of people go with and also are there any other brands that are good?

I personally recommend them, but Tein also makes a coilover kit.

@holdstumt Do you run Tanabe coilovers? And if so have you haven't had any issues with them?

I run their springs and they're great, so I can't imagine the coils being bad.

@holdstumt A friend of mine told me that Raceland was a good brand and from what I've seen that name comes up a lot. And for the price it's what I'm leaning towards. Just trying to get second opinions before such a hefty purchase. Would you recommend just getting the Tanabe's for the higher price or should the Raceland's suffice?

Raceland coilovers are prone to these kinds of things. How good of manufacturing can you really ask for when they are as cheap as they are? You're better off spending the extra money on a good set of coilovers or springs.

Well, it depends what stress the Racelands were put under right before the above failure happened. If the owner was tracking them or putting them under high stress, which Raceland explicitly states you shouldn't do, then that explains why they took a dump on the above owner.

There are many people who run Scion XA coilovers and under normal daily driving situations, they're actually pretty good coilovers for only ~$400. They'll give you a drop of 1.5"-3" and actually sometimes slams you more than you need.

Here's a post from the forums of plenty of members who have Raceland coilovers on their Scion XAs so you can decide for yourself! Apparently, they're as comfortable as Teins and in some cases, even ride better.

But if the possibility of your coilover snapping because you turned too fast is right around the corner, why risk it? I'd rather be safe and spend more money on a quality set that won't break. And isn't it ironic that they are called Raceland but can't handle any racing?

@holdstumt I've decided to just save my money for the better quality, it just makes more sense since my car is already worn, and I'd rather not have to pay for more damages further down the road. I agree; better safe than sorry.

Absolute best coilover you can buy for the xB is the KW Suspension...Variant 1 if you don't want to worry about any adjustments outside of ride height and the Variant 2 if you want to be able to adjust them.

Either way they're a whole lot more than $400...

@MileHightC I'm probably gonna go with the KW Variant 1s, I don't need all that fancy stuff like camber and what not. It's more than $400 yeah, but hey it'll last a lot longer.

Toss a review on here when you do get them! I'd love to hear about the ride quality and slammability on them!
