Help with slight rubbing.
Hey everyone,
I remember reading a thread a while back about some rubber spacers that someone found that help with rubbing issues while maintaining ride height. I've tried searching but cannot find it. I know it had pictures and part numbers, etc. Does anyone remember it?

Here's what you are probably lookin for. I have them, and they worked a little bit, but the problem is the rubber is too soft, and the coil will cut them in half after a while. I'm looking for polyurethane ones now. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AMBOFS

Actually I forgot I had some adjustable metal ones in my basement so I put those on today and I'll see how they work. If I remember correctly, I think they're 10 bucks at an auto parts store and work for expanding or compressing the coils.

Thanks for the info. I picked up a set of aluminum spring boosters from Autozone. After putting them on, I did notice a change in height. There's also some noise when turning. Not too happy with the turn out. I might just take them off and roll the fenders instead. I currently have the Eibach Pro-Kit springs installed. PRSweeney, let me know how the adjustable ones work out. I saw those at the autoparts store also. If they work out, I might go that route instead.

Good question. I guess I should have stated earlier. I'm running the XXR/Sportmax 002s. It only rubs when I have people in the back and only on the right side. Not a major problem, but I want to try to resolve it.

same noises with the metal boosters here. I'm going to look for stronger rubber boosters. I'm on ksports raised all the way up, rolled fenders, cut fenders, and fender flares on sportmax 002s, and I still rub alot. I actually didn't rub when I had the ksport shocks installed, but they kept on leaking out and I got tired of paying to replace them, so I got koni's, but they were softer so the rubbing came back. I think I'm going to eventually just replace the wheels with smaller offsets so I don't have to completely cut out the fenders.

Yah I am using the boosters too (been 6 months so far) , they helped a bit, but I still have to roll the fenders to totally eliminate the rubbing with 15x8 et15 XXR 501 rims.
XXR 002s are et0 , you definitely need to roll them fenders!
Just get it over with and be done with the rubbing.
Side Question for PRSweeney:
I have the exact same boosters from your link, did you install them on the long ends per the instructions or on the narrow ends?
I was only able to install the boosters on the narrow ends. I couldn't figure out a way to cram the booster in the long way. The gap between the coils aren't nearly wide enough??

Yeah I've decided I'm just going to roll the fenders. Now the question is, do I really want to do it myself? I've done a lot of things to the box on my own, but the thought of heating the paint and going at it with a bat kind of worries me. I guess I can always have it done.

its very easy to roll the fenders, just have a friend gently heat a small area of the fender lip with the heat gun to soften the paint (not cook it), then gently massage the lip with a bat, or piece of pipe with tape wrapped around it.. if you go real slow, and only do a little at a time, you can get a nice clean roll.. or you can rent a fender roller, some autoparts stores have them for rent, or you can try a body shop - most have them for rental in my area..
you still need a heat gun, or a damn hot summer day so you dont chip and crack your paint. if you are unsure, have someone do it, or get an ir thermometer to get an accurate reading of the temp of the fender as you heat it.

I put them on the long ends. My ksport springs had enough space to put them in there. I think two of them somehow slipped to the narrow side cause thats how they cut. I'm gonna order some more and try putting three on each side for more support
