I've have the S-Techs and 5987's with an improved ride and no issues.

The two shocks cost $75. I put on the shocks and a sway bar, in the driveway, with the wheels on the ground, using two wrenches, in a half hour. There was only one trick involved - use a long plastic tie, or two ties together, to hold one end of the sway bar up while you bolt the other in place. Without tieing one end up, a second person will have to hold it up.

Just to give folks another option....NAPA carries the Sensa-Tracs. In fact, the 5987's are a "stocked" item in my area. No special order needed.

the 5870's are not made for the xb they are made for another car, correct, so on there site they insist on getting what vehicle you are getting parts for, does anyone else find it impossible to navigate their web site without putting in your vehicle, I wonder if Kragen has the same special, there are no advanced auto parts here but they are the same company.

Well I guess it would be better to have them , then to not, it really stiff in the back right now, did you price the front struts when you bought your rears?

i don't need the front struts. i'm running air bags. after installing the 5870s in the rear i have noticed that the ride has smoothed out pretty nicely.

Will the Monroes lower the back any more than my coils currnetly do(About a 3.25" drop). It should help the ride at least.

To look them up online use the 2002 Toyota Echo as the vehicle.

Shock absorbers cannot have any effect on the ride height. They have no connection to the springs. However, if you have dropped the ride by 3.25", no shocks made for the Echo or xB might work, and especially not the SensaTracs.
The SensaTracs are especially made for a particular ride height, which corresponds to the grooved section of their internal piston.
