Diamond Racing Wheels will winden steel wheels, though; at least that's what it says on their Web site. I e-mailed them about it, but they never got back to me. Then again, they're right down the street from me, so I suppose I could pop my head in and ask. Plus, I belive Diamond's off-the-shelf wheels are not meant for street use (e.g. they might be a bit soft).

Diamond Racing wheels are ok for street use, my friend has them on his GTI.

And as far as widening steelie you already have. I looked into that and it costs much less to buy new steelies from these people.

I'm getting antsy. My wheels should be here today or Monday.

Look for pics when I get them.

I hope they're here today and you get them on your car before 4:00pm CST. Otherwise, I'll have to wait to see them until I get back from Germany on the 10th of Feb.

Well you miss out then because I won't have tires for another week or two.

But I do plan on posting pics of the wheels and maybe even mount up a wheel just to show you how they fit.

DAMN! They are waiting on parts for the wheels. They ran out of the centers.

They will have the centers in on Monday and my wheels will be shipped out on Tuesday. That mean I should see them Friday next week.

those widened steelies look great1 A 15" wheel with a lot of lip looks great on the xB. Black would look good, but that brushed steel looks awesome!

Here is a pic of a standard version of the wheel I ordered. The picture shows the WS60 in standard 35mm offset, remember mine are 20mm front, 10mm rear.

Is it going to be an 8 bolt universal pattern like that or are you getting a direct 4 X 100 pattern ?

Ok, so in Theory...what would the widest combo you could pack under the xb...
15x8 with a nice 20mm offset in front...
Is 15x10 possible in the rear? What would a decent offset be? Cusom im sure..but mm wise? Whats a half stretched tire size? I would be SOOO down to purchasing a 15x10 and attempting to fit it if i had some idea of the offset I would need.

Also - this is disregarding ride height. I am just worried about getting too much offset and sticking too far out past the fenders.

Some of us are running 15x8 works....10 offest for the rear.....mostly require modification of the rear fenders...rolling cutting, etc....

My steelies I ordered are 15x8". They are 20mm offset in the front and 10mm offset in the rear. You actually order them by backspacing though so if you want 10" wide wheels in the back and still want them to kind of fit under the fenders, then you should go with about 5.5" of backspacing. Our stock wheels have 5.25" backspacing so if you stretch tires and put a 10" wide wheel in the back you should be ok with 5.5" backspacing.

The stock steelies are actually 5.5" wide (unless you have a brand new xB which have 6", I believe). So the offset is around 4.75". I'm thinking about getting the 15x7 with the 5.5" backspace, which should retain the stock offset of 38mm (or 1.5"), with a set of Kumho Ecsta 711 at 215/55-15 (that's the only tire in that size--it's 2% larger in diameter than stock).

no way..... you will have to do some work to get the 10J under the rear. if it was as easy as an offset change, many others would have 10J wheels.....

Wombat,
try this,
I went to http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Current Wheel Specs Width 6 inches Offset 38mm

New Wheel Specs Width 10 inches Offset -13mm

Inner Clearance: THE SAME (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)

Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 102mm(position of the outside edge of the wheel )

this is just a sample, some like me have used 7 inch rims with 40 offset with no rub(17"rims), so play around with it, and see what you can come up.

The big reason to get the low offsets is o get the wide lip. Otherwise, there's no reason! With the 10 offest, and a drop, most likely, you will have to roll the fenders or have them cut. witht he works, the outer edge of the ip actually sits a few mm outside the fender line. Butrolling cutting is not really a big deal. If you can't or don't want to do it yourself, a body shop can do it for a nominal fee.

My fenders are already trimmed nicely and a slight roll has been done.
I am on 19x8 with a 40mm offset(axis with maxis lip all around). They work but i would prefer a smaller wheel (15/16's) with a huge real lip. Ill give the calculator a try. I need to get under there and measure what kind of clearance I have now and see if I get a huge backspacing (5.5 or more) what kind of rubbing issues I'd have on the INSIDE wheel well. I think I need to remove a tire and make a cardboard template and see what kind of offsets and lengths the xB can fit. 15x10 would be crazy cool to see, especially with a huge backspacing and fat lip...with some camber too maybe.

if 18x13 can be done, 15x10 is just small beans
