Is anyone Rolling on Widened Steelies?
So , docotorcue, you are actually going out and BUYING STEEL WHEELS?? Ugh, thats even worse...
And bull, I get it. But don't forget that not everyting the old hot rodders did was a good idea.
Don't mean to start a battle here, but my point still stands.

Two... the box is my commuter... nothing more, nothing less. So any show/bling/etc doesn't mean a thing to me. Not when I'm cruising @ 85 over the potholes/cracked pavement in the SF bay area.
Three... we got your point. You don't like it. We'll categorize you post as a "Nay". Good day.
I don't know why you are saying stretch tires are dangerous....if that's the case, then why do racers and pro drifters have stretched tires on their race cars?
I got 195's on my 15/8 and the handling is great.....

this "steel" rims is 8" with low offset(depending on how low you want), thus theres also wide lips showing.
To translate it to you its a very nice plush fitment, and with a nice drop, you get nice stance.
try to read the whole thread so you'll know why they want/like this.

I would say I could run 195's with no rubbing. I chose to stick with the 185's for the really stretched look.
And Ooo ThatsSharp. Constructive criticizm is ok, but you need to take what you are saying down a notch. I am going for an old skool look and that look I am going for cannot be achieved with alloys. If you don't like that, fine, but you don't need to come in here insulting me for doing it.

Wow; that's crazy. I can't believe they don't rub. Maybe if you were ultra-slammed. Well, very cool. I talked to Diamond Racing Wheels here in Milwaukee and they could do the same specs for $83 a wheel.

The cost to widen a one piece cast wheel is ridiculous, regardless of material. Not to mention the fact that the wheel strength will be compromised to some degree. In the end it is probably less expensive to just buy a whole new set of cast wheels.
Then you move on to two piece wheels. Depending on the material wheel shops can either "widen" or "rehoop" the wheel to give you more width. Widening usually involves cutting the existing hoop about the circumference and adding a filler piece between the two existing sections of hoop. A rehoop is where the existing hoop is replaced with a brand new hoop. That option is by far the strongest, and usually most cost effective. I have had this done on many occasions with billet wheels.
And finally we have three piece wheels. The nicest aspect to a three piece wheel is that they are considered modular. Comprised of a center section, an inner hoop and an outer hoop, individual components can be swapped to achieve the best fitment for a reasonable cost. Width can be added or removed very easily to either side of the wheel (or both) by simply swapping out the section(s) you want modified.
this is what i'm talking about right here
