Default HELP!! Tire question.

I have a good deal offered to me on some rims locally they are:

Lexani Roma's

17" x 7.5

215/45/R17

Will these fit my stock xB with stock suspension? Do I need any spacers, or purchase anything special. Forgive me and I've searched some and couldn't find anything with these specifics, I found something close with 215/40/17's but not 45/17. Please let me know, time is of the essence to get a heck of a deal on these.

you should not have a problem may have a little rubbing on the back shock cuz the size of the tire. i have 40 on my 17's and have just enough clearance. dont get spacers they are not a good idea. get the rims and if need be just change the tires

from what i hear or know that one tone garage shims would be better they go behind the rear drum. ask the person selling them to see if you could put one of them on the rear to test them?

With the new tire on the new rim laying outside down you want to measure the distance from the inside of the rim where they mount against the drum to the top of the side wall and then do the same for the stock tire to see what that distance is. Then see how much space there is between the stock tire and the suspension where it might rub. No one seems to have these measurements but if they did you could tell right away. I would say that the new rims are 3/4 inch wider in both directions - stocks are 6 inch new ones are 7.5 inch so it should not be too close BUT if the offset of the wheel is not correct then you could have a problem. The offset is the distance from the mounting surface to the center of the rim and that can be anything they want it to be but if it is not correct then the tire moves inwards or outwards from the stock position. It is supposed to be 40mm offset (1.57 inches) but you really need to measure the sidewall bulge of the tire when mounted to figure out the clearance.

I don't know the exact offset other than the measurements I gave above, unfortunately I don't know much about tires/rims. I can tell you they are 17" Lexani Roma's, the original Roma's not the Roma II

Towards the bottom dudehitt post pretty much clears it up - the offset it 38mm stock and a Millimeter either way is not worth talking about - 25.4mm to an inch. Sounds like you should try to keep the tire centered on the bearings to avoid any alignment and steering problems but the inside clearances will determine that - you don't want anything rubbing. Any chance you can just get them put on and see how they fit? The offset is critical to not rub and it is raining here today and I am not crawling out and getting under my xB to check for ya ok.

WOW they sure are some BLING BLING Wheels!

yeah its raining here to or I'd try and see if I can put them on. I called Lexani and they said the offset is 43mm. Does this change anything?

Well all, I put one on the back yesterday and it still had almost an inch before it would rub the back shock, etc. Looks like I'll be okay. Thanks for the help and if anyone still has any advice/recommendations, please feel free to post.
