Default Help with Wheel Decision

I bought an Indigo Ink Pearl Scion xA in December, and I need to choose wheels. I want 16 inch wheels and will be going with 205/50-16 tires. I want the color to be silver or bright gray (no black with polished lip or various colors).

I want to keep the weight of the wheels down. I'd love to come in less than stock for the wheels and tires, but if not, I definitely don't want to add alot of weight. Low cost isn't a goal, but I don't want to spend a too much. I'd like to spend about $250 or less per wheel. I don't want to spend $400 or $500 per wheel on an xA. I think the stock wheels look "tucked in," so I'd like to get something with an offset of +38 or less. I definitely want something that is considered good quality.

I've been looking at wheels for an xA for months now, and I can't find anything I absolutely love. I've seen some pretty nice wheels, but most come in offsets of +40 or greater. Other nice wheels often weight alot.

I'm currently considering 3 wheels (I tried to put pictures below):
- 5zigen FN01R-C 16x7 +33 offset - Silver w/ Machined Face (15 lbs)
- ASA AR1 16x7 +38 offset - Silver w/ Machined Lip (17.6 lbs)
- Borbet Type S 16x7.5 +35 offset - Silver w/ Machined Lip (17.5 lbs)

Does anyone have an opinion? The 5Zigens have the advantage of being lightweight. However, they are probably my least favorite from a looks standpoint. I really don't like the goldish colored center cap. I never liked mesh wheels, but I think they look really good on proportionally tall cars like the xA and Mini, so I think I like the look of the Borbets and ASAs better. The ASA's look nice. I've seen pictures of them on a couple of xAs on this site. The only thing I don't like about the look is the fake rivets. I'm also not certain about the quality of a Korean made wheel. I think the Borbets look nice, but I haven't seen any pictures of an xA with the Borbet Type S. Anyone have them? Also, will a 205/50-16 tire look OK on a 7.5 inch wide rim. The tires say 7.5 inches is the widest supported. I don't want the tires to look stretched or anything.

Any opinions (or photos of an xA with the 5Zigens or especially the Borbets - its easy to find pictures with the ASAs) are appreciated.

I have always loved the Borbets. They are my favorite reasonably-cost wheel. I have seen an xB with them, but never an xA. I also HATE the fake rivets/bolts, and everyone has the 5Zigens.

Borbets FTW.

Thanks Max.

Also, my pictures didn't seem to work. Clicking the links takes you to the pictures, but I was hoping the pictures would show up in the post.

I'm a big fan of the mesh look. I like the Zigen's minus the rivets liek Max said. So go for the Borbets.

I went to edit your post to show the images, but shutterfly doesn't seem friendly, so I hosted the images.

The Borbets are the nicest of the 3 and they do look really good.

I know you said it was easy to find, but if you want more check my profile for the 16x7 ASA AR1's in silver on a TCM xB and a PW xA.

Click each one to enlarge.

Yea xA_Factor, the reason I said the ASA AR1 pictures are easy to find is that there is a blue one in the xA pictures thread, and you had posted some in some other thread. It was seeing your pictures that brought them to my attention awhile back. Those wheels look really good on your car.

Do they seem to be well made?

I'd love to see some pictures of an xA with the Borbet Type S so I could make a comparison to decide what I like best.

And thanks Max for getting the pictures into the thread. I really appreciate that.

The other thing I didn't mention that might come into play as to what wheel makes sense is that I will be very modestly lowering my car with TRD Springs (already purchased them) and pushing the back wheels out slightly with the 10mm OTG spacers (at least I think I'll buy the OTG spacers, I need to do more research on them).

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, the wheels are of very high quality. What most people might not know, is that ASA is owned by BBS.

BTW, here's a recent thread about the OTG hub spacers. I posted up some pix. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=155610
