Not if you have the vehicle realigned after the drop. However, the way you drive it after the drop might!

How much air you guys put in these low profile/hi performance tires?

I have the 205-45-16 Toyo P4 for almost a year, and was told to inflate them by the motorsports store where I bought them to 40 lbs.

I just so happened to go to the Toyo Tires website a few days ago, and inquired with them about the tire pressure ., they told me AT LEAST 33 lbs. I replied back, ok---AT LEAST 33 lbs, but what about 40 lbs?

Their response back was 'TOO HIGH'---geez, so who is right?

I don't see any acceleratedwear due to my having it all this time at 40 lbs...

40 psi will wear out the middle of the tread. Keep them around 32-34 and you will be good.

Wife has Scion Xa, bought it in July 2004, bought 18" Enkei with 215/35/18 Pirelli P Zero Nero from the dealer, have had a total of 3 highway blowouts on inside wall of tire. 2nd tire blowout was summer of 05 in NY, I live in NC. Had no choice but to buy a Federal tire, which blew on highway last month. Every blowout has happened after tire rotation and has been a rear tire. Dealership and Corporate ppl dont care that if the rotation would have been a few days later, it would have been front tire that blew.
Also, we constantly check tire pressure and keep them at 35psi, and I mean almost everyday, 5-6 times a week we check them. Every 5k rotations also.

I was curious if you rotate front to rear and leave the tires on the same sides? If you swap sides with performance tires, they will have problems such as you described. As for myself, I have noticed that one of my front tires wears more than the other so I took it in for an alignment and all was ok. Weird.

It's normal for the fronts to wear much quicker than the rears. First off the front carries 60% of the weight of the vehicle. Then add in the turning and power transmission aspect and this is why the fronts wear faster. To rotate directional tires they have to stay on the same side and just swap front for rears.

Yea, my tires arent directional.

Mileage wise, kind of tough to say. Car has about 33k on it.

Now considering that I have had 3 tires go out, its kind of sticky.

Dec04~Jan05, one tire blows, I buy a brand new one--car has about 10k miles

Jun-July2005, another tire blows, I buy a brand new one--car has 20k miles

Feb06, another tire blows, I have a full sized spare--car has 30k miles, im pending this better business bureau crap.

So I've bought two brand new tires and have blown three. The third blowout was second tire that I have bought. So I know for sure that I have 2 of the originals.

2 orginals have 30k miles
1 replacement has 20k miles

I think I have managed to confuse myself.

I think tire life mostly depends on where you live and the condition of your roads. My roads down here are very kind to my tires. Other states not so much.
