A lot of people have said they have eased their ride by putting on Monroe Sensormatic shocks in the back--do a search and you can read up on it.......

its importaint to maintain stock hight with tire size. 205/40/17 - 185/60/15 and 215/25/18 are all basicaly the same. if you change this say smaller or larger you change tha drive ratio. your spedo will not be rifgt and you could have problems with en automatic trany. also with oversized tires like 225/30/20 you over stress the rack, iner and outer tie rodes, ball joints and the control arms. the lower profille of a tire you use the more of the road you will feal. i understand the need to fill the fender gap. use a mild lowering spring and a good quality shock and keep a quality 205/40/17. don't buy the cheepest tire you can find. take care of your tires, infate about 38 psi and rotate every 5000 miles. you should be ok.

So... 215/35/18 will not rub? I am looking at some 18s right now! I have to get 18s. I have 17s on my Civic and wished I went larger. I hate, hate, FENDER GAP!

215/35/18 is stock diameter....it will likely not rub but clearance depends alot on what the offset is on the wheels and how low your suspension is. My 215/40/18's on 42MM offset wheels did not rub at a 2 inch drop. They are also 3.5% large in diameter causing a 3.5% speedo error and gear ratio change....not enuf to make much difference....I fix the speedo error with a calculator if I want to know MPG....I ignore the overall drvie ratio difference ...can't feel it anyway. 35 series ride rougher than 40 series which ride rougher than 45 series etc generally. 45 series on a 17" might be a very good choice for ride without getting too big an oversize.

Try either 215/40/17 or 205/45/17's. 205/40/17's are not the right size tire for the xB. They are underweight rated! Also the Monroe rear shock upgrade will really smooth out the ride no matter what tire you run!
