Default tire size on 16x9 rim?????

I recently bought a set of NKB power mesh rims 16x9 30 offset........I bought the rims and the tires together the person running the rims before me has a superstretch 205/40/16 on the rims.........I don't mind the stretched look but I also like to run my car fast through the corners and I know for a fact that the 2 combinations don't mix (tight cornering on stretched tires= tires popping off the rim= not good!!!) What is a safe stretch that will also allow me to go through the corners.....also it is not lowered at the moment but after my wife has our baby I will be more than likely be on either progress coilovers or worst case on tanabe df210's.....Any help in the matter would be appreciated..........

i'd say a 245/40-16 sized tire would be a good choice, but you're not going to find any tires in that size, so the next best bet would be a 225/45-16 tire.

^ You should be good with a 225/45-16 tire then. There is also 215/45-16 as well. You gotta remember that these tires are still too narrow for a 9" width wheel, but much better than a 205 tire on a 9" width wheel. Ideally, there should be a 245 or a 255 tire sitting on that wheel, but those are really wide.

I am pretty sure you bought my old wheels..... If you plan on lowering very much, you will have rubbing issues without stretched tires. I think with a 2 inch drop the widest I would is maybe a 215. Otherwise those fat tires will be getting cut on the fenders like there is no tomarrow on the back.

Yep those are mine. I did trade him those for some of the work in my trunk. The 10's did a 134db with the doors open, and the gain less then halfway. So they work pretty well.

Wow those wheels have been everywhere. I would say keep the 205s. Their not gonna pop off and I have friends that have more stretch then that and the tire just doesnt pop off. Also if you drop it...you will need the stretch.

Like I said ....if I do decide to buy new tires I will go with 215/40/16 next.....my friend shortbus has them on his nkb cups and I like the look a little better........they don't look soo bad that they look like they are gonna pop off the rim
