Hood scoop functional? Or is it just for looks....ive seen a few with the "for the looks", seems like a waste if it doesnt do anything.
Looks hellaciously nice tho!

no its functional it send direct air to the intake manifold and cools down the engine because air is being forced through the scoop all scoops r like that, if they werent it would just have a scoop and then underneath it would be solid, i mean there wouldnt be a place for the air to go, know what i mean

no no no, I didnt say or think you stole the pic. I just really like the angle of the photo. Notice how I said "I love how this hood looks on OUR xBs"

why the pins? Was the hood flapping or did you want hood pins

why do most of those hoods look misaligned or popped? I like that last hood that was posted, but all of them look pretty good.

What i didnt know was that when he traded in his xB for a Tundra he had sold the hood to Omar ( founder of NRG and another close friend ). Turns out Omar had the hood sitting under his bed for almost a year and didnt have the time to have it finished. Omar paid $100 for the hood from Jeff, but i got the hood from Omar for a set of stock steelies i had laying around. Not a bad trade, no? I also bought a one off WRX front end from a guy in PA ... so i was going to have the hood and the front bumper for this year. Long story short i sold off the 2 pieces cause i WAS going to trade my RS1 in for a new xb2. Well, that didnt happen, but im glad my 2 one offs are staying in the family and they are close by.

and the WRX front end

and this is the 3 of our together for a Scion VIP last month.

You would be correct. It first started out on a black and purple custom years ago. Jeff ( aka LIP ) bought it from the guy who made it and installed it on his xb. Jeff just sold that xB last week. He sold that front end to another xB owner last year in Philly. That owner ( Kevin ) sold his box for a Tundra, so i bought it off him for half what he paid Jeff for it. Now Dave has it ( dgHotLava ) on his ride, along with a lip kit i sold him.

Related question. Do any of the vented hoods really improve the xB's aerodynamics? I'd like to find something that vented the engine compartment (a relatively big source of drag) and worked. Anybody done any experimentation?

I can tell you personally that the Celcia hood that my GF now has really has no bearing on the engine bay at all. I think cause the front end is so flat that any air or water that she has roll up the top of the hood is caught up in the draft and doesnt actually go inside the scoop.
