Default Bug Deflecor

Hi,

I have read about a couple of Scion xB's with plastic covered deflectors, one was white on a white xB.. Does anyone know where to get them?

Thank you,
Lois

Mine is a WADE that I covered with white marine vinyl and black door edging. I looked but didn't find a factory white one when I purchased mine in mid 2005.

What color are you?
You might want a clear bug deflector, it gleems at night. See link and photo:

Wow that's a large can of soda. Oops. Sorry. I'm supposed to be looking at the bug deflector. I would like one like that. The deflector, not the soda. I drink diet.

ive heard a few hit it, but after all rocks are a little heaver than bugs and the air coming off the front of the car isnt too strong, but it is cool as all helll to watch bugs fly at you, then get tossed up

I like the clear one. Sure don't notice it at all.

With xBHAWK's help, I ended up buying a Lund Clear Bug Shield for our new xB:

Default .....Exellant Mod....

Looks good, TVRacer.... Any fitment issues?
I had to drill a hole next to the pre-drilled hole for a perfect fit.
Glad to see that kind of protection on your new box.
It is almost invisable from any distance away.
How does it look at night with the lights on?
From inside, can you see the gleem?

Those cloth bras need special cleaning after a rain.
This deflector is maintenance free and should last the life of the box.

xBHAWK,

No problems at all, except, yes, on the 2 outside holes, I used my Dremel to widen the hole so the fittings would fit! The Dremel made an easy job of it.

I wanted a Colgan bra, was planning that even before we took possession of our xBea. I read up as much as I could on the pros and cons of the Colgan and the clear film, but figured:
1) I don't have to remove the bug shield. With all the bras our cars have had, they have worked just fine, but I have had to remove them yearly to clean out underneath (bugs, pine needles, dirt, etc).
2) I thought the clear films were a good way to go, but I have heard problems with installation issues and the seams. Also in case of an accident, I didn't want to have to reapply, let alone have to buy another kit or portion of a kit.

The clear bug shield looks nice (my opinion), we don't have to remove it, but it CAN be removed, and hopefully it will work well for the bugs.

In addition to bugs, we live in the mountains, so they sand the roads for ice. So lots of sand gets thrown up at our windshields. I am hoping the deflector will help out with sand in addition to the bugs. We will see

The main reason we bought it was to keep the front of the hood from rock damage.

PS. Whoops, forgot to answer about the "gleam". Believe it or not, we have not had it out at night yet... I will check and report!

Tom
