Default DIY: xB Sidemarker Modification

Whats up peps. This write up is a how to for keeping your front side markers on when your corner bulbs are on. The side markers will also blink when the corner light blink aswell.
Its not that difficult to do and should not take more than 1hour.

Here we go.

First off you need to find your side marker.

Once you have done that you need to pop it off.

To do that you need to push it foward then out.

Now that you have it out you need to cut open the wire loom.

Then it is time to cut the white wire.

Splice open the end that is connected to the light.

Now get about a 3 foot piece of wire and use a butt connector and connect it to the white wire that you spliced open and to the 3 foot piece of wire.

Close up the loom using electical tape leaving the 3foot wire out.

Now you are going to need a metal hanger.

Open up the hanger as stright as you can.

You are going to use the hanger so you can fish the wire to the engine bay.

The hanger should look like this when you get it throught to the side marker opening.

You are going to wrap electrical tape around the open end of the 3foot wire you have to the hanger like this.

Then pull the hanger through to the engine bay.

On your headlight pop out your corner bulb and harnes.

Take out your bulb so that it dose not get broken your damaged.

Cut open the loom that is holding the wires together.

Locate the green wire with the orange stripe and splice it open.

Connect the end of the wire that you pulled through to the green and orange wire.

It should look like this.

Wrap the wires in electrical tape so they will not get lose or damaged.

Then connet your bulb back your your harness and put it back into the headlight and your done with the one side. Now do the exact same thing to the other side to finish up.

We also added chrome bulbs to the cleared headlight.

Here is the end result, the light is now on with the corner bubls.

I hope you like it, good luck.

Hmm... nice mod. Not sure how practical it is though... I'd imagine they still flash right?

What's kinda cool is that if the parking lights aren't on, the side markers flash in sync with the front and rear. If they are on, they flash opposite of the front and rear.

Only because I've had problems with butt connectors coming apart due to car vibration and whatnot, I would highly reccomend soldering and heatshrinks for this type of work.

Just my $0.02.

Good write up but I would suggest using tee taps to tap int the wires. A little more secure that way. Because electrical tape comes off after a while.

Just a suggestion.

In CA I know it is illegal.

I'm just assuming it is illegal in a few other states as well.

Front sidemarkers are legal in amber , but they can only blink with the blinkers they cannot be like a running light. as to why? ya got me.

front signals can be white or amber , rear signals can be red or amber.

so there ya guys go
