Electical Problem After Taillights Installed
Today I installed my new aftermarket taillights I ordered from bBist.com and right after I had them put on my: windows, a/c components, console, turning signals and reverse lights stop working!!
I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
During the installation the vehicle was turned off and all I did was pop off the rear interior pieces then popped off the taillight connections and finally unscrewing the bolts that were holding on (10 minutes tops)... Afterwards, I checked out if they were working and then I noticed an entire head ache of problems not working.
I took a look at the other wires that were back there that would maybe short circuit however nothing that was back there had anything to do with the objects that weren't working!! Checked all fuses: OK
Maybe it's time to take the box into SERVICE!!

check and make sure that all the "bulbs" are good, and in working condition. not sure which aftermarket tails you got but on some, if the bulbs are bad/short, it will short/blow fuse and render either the gauge lights, a/c turn signals out.
try the bulbs first, if that dosn't work, then switch back to the OEM tails and see if it stops blowing fuse.
hope things get back to norm. ;)

I had this problem before when I put in my LED taillights from bbist and it turned out to be that I had crushed the wires when I put them back in. You said you checked but the cuts I had were very, very, very, small.
Yup I bet on a crushed wire. Check the Gauges fuse it controls the backups and the turn signals for sure ( I didnt notice that the a/c etc wasnt working... maybe it wasnt when my son crushed a back up wire installing our new tail lights) as this fuse is what blows when you short a T/S or B/U wire back there. Remove the tails and make sure no wires are caught between the unit and the body. Then check the gauges fuse (likely blown) and replace it. Ensure the crushed wire isnt broken or insulation cut, fix if needed, then reinstall the lamps. Our crushed wire did not look at all like the insulation was compromised besides being a bit flattened) but it had shorted none the less.
Today I think I might uninstall the LED lights and go back to factory...
So the reason for all these components not working is because of crushed wires?
I noticed when installing the LED lights that there were wires from the taillights that had to be kinda forced in because it wouldn't fit into the holes that were in the body...
Well Im off to the Service Department!!

Likely!! It is very easy to get the wiring from the tail lamps caught between the body and the lamp when you install it. This crushing causes the lamp to short. Mine worked fine until the first time I put it in reverse (that was the wire that turned out to be smushed). Then all the sudden the turn signals weren't working (was driving didnt know the backups didnt work either at that point). I returned to my shop and found that T/S and B/U lights were out. I started looking for blown fuses. Didn't find a fuse that seemed likely to cause this until I went in to either the backl of the owners manual or the Scion elec diagrams (cant remember which) which showed the gauges fuse to be in both circuits. Sure enuf it was blown. Changed fuse remounted the tail lamps ensuring that the wires weren't caught and it works great.
^^^
Thanks for the feedback!!
I ended up not going to the dealership and decided to figure it out myself... I looked at all the possibilities and noticed that LED wires were crunched which must have grounded out a few things causing the gauge fuse to blow. I then replaced the fuse with a new one and some how clean up my sloppy install!! I think that's why the kit came with zip ties? LOL
everything now seems to work fine!! pictures will be up tomorrow!!
