Default Front Side Marker Blackout How To!

What it do!? I decided to black out my side markers today, so I thought I'd make a little how to. I know it's pretty straight forward, but hey it can't hurt to have a step by step.

First, you will need:

-Some form of tinting spray, I used VHT Nite Shade.

-Rubbing alcohol.

-Painters tape.

-A towel, microfiber. You will see why.

-Gloves. Like an idiot I didn't use any and now I have paint all over my hands.

-A flat surface.

Now:

.:Step 1!

Pop out those side markers! Don't use a flathead or anything, just pull on the plastic and kinda push the fender inwards. Not too hard though.

Once the side marker is out, disconnect it from the plug. Be careful here, because the plug can fall back into the fender and be a bxtch to get out. To prevent this, take your towel, and shove it in the side marker hole against the wire.

.:Step 2!

Now that they're all out and ready, you wanna tape off what you wont be painting, just simply wrap the painting tape around the base of the plug.

Also, take out the rubbing alcohol, and put some on a napkin. Rub the plastic on the marker with it to free any dirt or oil.

.:Step 3!

I took them outside and taped them to stand upright on a table. This made it easier to paint and it also prevented the paint from running.

Once they're all set up, it's time to paint! Shake the can well, and spray about 5-6 inches away from the marker in steady strokes. I went over about four times each coat, and did three coats total.

.:Step 4!

After the last coat, check em' over and make sure nothing is wrong. I gave em' about 10 minutes to dry a little and brought them inside to let them sit for about 4 hours. They are actually still drying as I type this!

Here is the finished product!

Now, I'm dying to put these on my car, since it's white. I will post a picture with them installed most likely tomorrow, since when I get to put these on it will be dark out and my camera doesn't like dark.

Welp, that's that. I hope this helps out someone!

Now, if someone can tell me how to get those ole' rear side markers off...

Thanks!

It's just like I said, just grip it and pull. If you can't get it out like that, push in on the fender while pulling on the sidemarker.

Pull it from the back... you want to go from back to front. I just used masking tape to keep the harness from dropping back into the fender. I did this to my SM a couple months ago. It's nice, because the side markers blend in now.

Nice, thanks nick. I get a lot of comments about my car lookin' slammed. I am on Df210's but I have a little trick I used to get them to settle extra fast. That might be it, but I still want to go lower. Saving for some coils soon.

You can see the light, although not as good as when it was clear. It lights up orange, I will take a video of it tonight.

Thanks! As you can see it's visible. Not as bright as it was when it wasn't painted, but still visible.
