LOL the whole premise of blending being roughly the same as 1/2 the paint time is stupid and unfair to begin with....As you guys know it takes basically the same time to "blend" a panel as "paint" a panel...I mean whats different.....only spray color on 1/2 the panel....hmmmmm....let me see that took 1 minute less time....so yeah it is perfectly reasonable to get paid only 2 hours on that panel instead of 4 hours cause it is a "blend"....this is horse crap by itself but is accepted industry practice. I can understand why, since Ins co's have that BS rammed so far down our throats, that they would try to jam things deeper by trying to pay 1/2 of blend time for a blend within panel (which we know really doesn't work well , nor repairs the car to preloss condition). I asked one Ins estimator to explain to me how blend within panel could take so little time. He said cause you only clear 1/2 the panel and only color 1/2 of that 1/2 then 1/4 of the panel paint time should be fine. I told him OK you can pay that if you like but I will need at least 1 additional hour to sand and buff in the blend within panel he had me doing (buff time is never included in any paint time...and I would need a statement from him that he was insisting that I do this non standard repair (reminding him that virtually all manufacturers recommend clearing to the panel edges) and that XYZ insurance would pay for any warrantee failure of their procedure. He frowned and wrote full panel paint time...while mumbling something under his breath about my lack of skills

I like it when they try to slip parts discounts in on top of a/m keystone parts, and then dont wasnt to pay for the materials.....
*shakes head* or as an independent tried to do on friday, 3 stage pearl paint on a lexus, keyed down the right side. Didnt want to pay for the 3 stage, said its not neccessary to "overdo it", and we could get away with doing a 2 stage on it......
Im like uh, No. guy this is a 3 stage pearl. if i do a 2 stage, it aint gonna match. And he talked about the shops skills.....(and then proceeded to tell me that he'd been doing estimating for 35 years, and used to run CCC, and that since I am only 30 I dont have the experience in which to tell him he has to pay for a 3 stage.....)
I wanted to f*cking punch him out Unfortunatley is was in front of an office full of peeps.

thats when you tell them to get the f out, we've had a customer in his 80s who was very gender biased, he started bunching and beating our female adjuster and our two receptionists when his car was still at another body shop because he didn't tell his isurance company where to take it

To bad about yer xB.

Progressive did miss a few spots on my partners Taurus but they also cleared a fender that needed it. They took the car back, had the work done and let us keep the rental an additional day.
